After a nearly two year wait, season 8 of Game of Thrones is finally underway. And not disappointingly, viewers have wasted no time generating meme after hilarious meme, and theories that range from mind-blowing to gross – Please, don’t let Jon and Dany be half-brother and half-sister. Just don’t.

Every level of fan is coming out of the woodwork, too, while diehard, book-reading and cosplaying Thronies are facing off with those who just started watching at the end of season 6. Or is that just me? In my defense, I’ve seen 90% of the previous seasons on YouTube.

There is one subgroup of GoT fandom that are near and dear to this writer’s heart, though: the number crunching, algorithm writing nerds. And the guys over at the website A Song Of Ice And Data aren’t just members of that club, they might well be the presidents.

They’ve come up with an algorithm that they believe tells us who has the best and worst chance of surviving the final season of Game of Thrones. Honestly, it doesn’t even matter if it ends up being accurate or not, as these kinds of things are always fun, and generate plenty of debate.

So, with that in mind, here’s who they picked for the top five of each list.

Least Likely To Die

  • Daenerys Targaryen – 0.9%
  • Tyrion Lannister – 2.5%
  • Varys – 3.2%
  • Samwell Tarly – 3.3%
  • Jaime Lannister – 4.0%

Most Likely To Die

  • Bronn – 93.5%
  • The Mountain – 80.3%
  • Sansa Stark – 73.3%
  • Bran Stark – 57.8%
  • The Hound – 47.5%

All in all, those are pretty safe choices from what I can tell, but who do you think will die this season on Game of Thrones? As always, you can share your thoughts with us in the comments section down below.
