Beneath all the fluorescent visuals and awe-inspiring spectacle, Thor: Ragnarok will always be remembered as a bold and often laugh out loud funny reinvention of Marvel’s Norse god.

That’s not to say that the previous Thor films were bad movies, it’s just that the God of Thunder never really got the adaptation he deserved. But then Taika Waititi entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that all changed.

Following critically acclaimed efforts in the vein of Hunt For the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows, the New Zealand director brought with him an infectious energy that carried over into the God of Thunder’s third solo outing. It was something that the previous adaptations were sorely lacking, and made for one of the best and most entertaining movies of 2017. But what comes next for the fan favorite hero?

Well, Endgame is quickly approaching, but there’s also been some chatter about doing a Thor 4, and though Marvel has yet to confirm anything – and likely won’t until the Infinity War sequel has been in theaters for a while – Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson, who played Valkyrie, claims that a fourth film for Chris Hemsworth’s Avenger is indeed in the works and better yet, Waititi could return.

Speaking to the LA Times, she said:

“I heard that a pitch has happened for [another Thor film]. I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika would come back.”

Of course, just because a pitch has happened and the project is being discussed, that doesn’t mean it’ll actually materialize. After all, there’ve been many reports that point to Chris Hemsworth exiting the MCU after Endgame, while some believe that the God of Thunder may actually meet his maker later this month.

But if he doesn’t, and the Asgardian lives to fight another day, we’d love to see another solo outing for him. As mentioned above, Ragnarok was a ridiculously fun flick and a Thor 4, with Waititi once again steering the ship, would be a very welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
