Thor Infinity War

Chris Hemsworth Reportedly Done With The MCU After Avengers: Endgame

It’s been a rough couple of movies for the God of Thunder, who had to witness the death of his father and the destruction of his home world in Thor: Ragnarok, before losing his brother and suffering failure at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. After all the drama that’s about to unfold in Avengers: Endgame, you can imagine that Chris Hemsworth’s character will be just about ready for retirement, and it sounds like that may be exactly what he gets.

A source close to We Got This Covered has alleged that Endgame will be Hemsworth’s last outing as Thor. Though the report adds that there’s still a slight chance he’ll return several years from now in Marvel’s Phase 5, the possibility isn’t considered very likely.

If what we’re hearing is true, then it sounds like Marvel Studios is serious about clearing away the Phase 1 heroes to make room for new blood. After all, many fans are taking it as a given already that Iron Man and Captain America will also end their runs with Endgame.

As for how exactly Hemsworth might be dropping out of the series, that remains to be seen. While a heroic death in the field of battle would be a fitting enough way for the God of Thunder to go out, there’s also been some speculation lately that Thor will be looking to establish a new Asgard, which may require him to settle down in a more peaceful corner of the MCU.

That’s just one suggestion for how Thor could bring his seven-movie arc to a close, but one way or another, all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters next month, on April 26th.
