“Look at the world around you,” the purple tyrant says, presumably to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. “Is it not more peaceful?” To be fair, New York certainly seems a lot quieter than usual in the promo footage, though it almost looks like society has collapsed completely. While we don’t hear an answer to Thanos’ question, the TV spot does give one more line to the villain, who tells his surviving enemies, “Let’s finish this.”

Indeed, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is expected to be an ending in more ways than one. Multiple Phase 1 heroes, for instance, are widely predicted to finish their arcs with next week’s release, and the same can probably said of Thanos himself.

So far, Marvel has been keeping their cards very close to their chest when it comes to the villain’s role in Endgame. Before this month, the conqueror hadn’t even shown his face in any of the trailers, and even now, we’ve only seen a couple of shots of the character. Nonetheless, the little we’ve witnessed has already raised a few questions.

Take Thanos’ new armor, for instance. Seeing how the Mad Titan dumped his extra layers in Infinity War because he believed that the Infinity Gauntlet gave him all the protection he needed, you have to wonder why he’s taking precautions this time.

Is his gauntlet lost? Broken? Is this a Thanos from the past who doesn’t have the gauntlet yet? Form whatever theory you like, but all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
