Elizabeth Olsen Says The WandaVision Show Will Have A 1950s Sitcom Feel

Marvel is unleashing a whole host of new high-budget TV mini-series on Disney Plus when the streaming service launches. The first three out the door are Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier and WandaVision. All will see the original movie actors return to their roles, and the kooky title for the third suggests Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are going to be starting in some kind of sitcom-y take on their characters

And it seems that this is exactly the vibe the show is going for. Variety caught up with Olsen on the red carpet at the Avengers: Endgame premiere on Monday and, now that the cat’s out of the bag, was able to get some gossip about WandaVision from the actress.

Most interestingly, the star referenced a promo image for WandaVision shown at the Disney Plus launch conference that hasn’t yet been released, one which apparently depicted the two loved-up heroes in a 50s-esque environment.

“There’s quite a few other comic books we’re pulling from. It’s gonna be Wanda and Vision. I think at the Disney+ launch chat they showed a photo of us in the 50s, and I think that’s a good teaser. It’s gonna be really fun.”

This description should give Marvel comics readers some clues about the different series the show is drawing inspiration from. After all, the set-up sounds a lot like the recent Vision solo run which saw the android attempt to raise a family in the suburbs. Wanda and Vision have also been parents before, with their kids Wiccan and Speed joining the Young Avengers. The Young Avengers are widely expected to debut in the MCU quite soon, too, so there could be some crossover here.

Olsen also revealed that she begins shooting in the fall and the first season will comprise six hours in total, which suggests a run of six episodes. We’ll keep you updated on WandaVision as more comes in, but for now, tell us, are you excited for the show? Let us know in the comments section down below.
