Game of Thrones Dany

Sounds Like Emilia Clarke Isn’t A Fan Of Game Of Thrones’ Final Season, Either

If you're not happy with how Game of Thrones' final season is unfolding, you can take comfort in the fact that you're not alone.

The current – and final – season of Game of Thrones has been divisive, to say the least. And one need only look to last night’s penultimate episode for proof of that.

Among many other things, “The Bells” killed off a number of major characters – including Cersei and Jaime – and also saw Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen make the ultimate heel turn. Understandably, fans are pretty upset with how everything played out this past Sunday and in particular, they’ve criticized the writers for how they handled Dany’s arc.

It seems it’s not only viewers who took issue with it, though, as Clarke herself doesn’t seem too pleased with the final season, either. ComicBook.com dug up a recent interview the actress did with Vanity Fair where she teased how things end up for Dany in Thrones. Though she didn’t explicitly say what would happen, she did state: “It f*cked me up. Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…”

That’s where she cut herself off, so as to not divulge any spoilers, but it’s clear that Clarke is also a bit rattled with where the writers took her character. To be fair, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have since explained that this break has been a long time coming for Dany, but it still doesn’t feel entirely right for her arc and where she should be as Thrones begins to wrap up and seems like too drastic of a change.

Regardless of what the fans – and Clarke – may think of that big heel turn last night though, everyone will surely be tuning in this Sunday for what promises to be an epic finale, as Game of Thrones airs its last episode and brings what’s been a truly incredible run to a close.
