Stephen King Slams Donald Trump, Compares Him To Chernobyl

The only thing scarier than a Stephen King novel is reality. Maybe that's why the acclaimed horror author has been hooked on the beloved miniseries Chernobyl. Whenever he watches it, he can't help but think of all of the parallels to real life and not just the horrific nuclear accident that occurred in the eighties. King tweeted out that the show makes him think of a certain man currently sitting in the White House.

In fact, King tweeted out recently that the show makes him think of a certain man currently sitting in the White House. In his own words:

“It’s impossible to watch HBO’s CHERNOBYL without thinking of Donald Trump; like those in charge of the doomed Russian reactor, he’s a man of mediocre intelligence in charge of great power–economic, global–that he does not understand.”

These comments may seem harsh, but they’re actually typical of King. The bestselling writer is no stranger to condemning Donald Trump. In fact, practically all of his social media is filled with swipes at the commander-in-chief. It should then come as no surprise that the notoriously thin-skinned president, who’s known for being quite active online, has King blocked on Twitter.

While the author may be the first viewer to draw comparisons between Trump and those in charge of the infamous nuclear catastrophe, he’s just one of many who’s hooked on HBO’s beloved miniseries. After all, Chernobyl is currently the highest rated TV show in history on IMDb and is expected to win multiple Emmy awards later this summer.

If King’s right in his assessment though, then the United States is in even more trouble than they can imagine. For those who are unaware, give Chernobyl a watch and see how much citizens had to pay for the foolishness of those in charge. Hopefully, things will end differently for Americans than they did for Russians back in 1986.

If the showrunners change their mind and decide to bring the series back for a second season, they can perhaps focus on Trump and his cronies. Maybe Stephen King can even come aboard as a writer. Now that’s a show everyone would definitely want to see, except the president himself. After all, it’s likely it won’t be too flattering.
