Batwoman Season 1 Will Feature Batman Villain Hush

Batwoman's arrival in the Arrowverse in last year's "Elseworlds" crossover gave The CW's DC shared universe the chance to play with the Bat-mythos for the first time. And it seems they are making the most of that in the heroine's upcoming solo show. The Batwoman panel at Comic-Con today brought the exciting news that one of Batman's biggest foes yet to make it into the movies will make his live-action debut in season 1.

Of course, we’re talking about Hush, the bandaged maniac who’s really Thomas Elliot, an old friend of Bruce Wayne’s turned foe. Producers Caroline Dries and Sarah Schechter revealed at the panel that many of Batman’s enemies will come after Kate Kane when she steps into her cousin’s shoes to protect Gotham City in his absence, and it seems Hush will be one of them.

We’ve previously been told that Red Alice (Rachael Skarsten) will be the main antagonist of the first season, but it sounds like Hush will be a major part of the show, too. It’s been confirmed that season 1 will partially tell an origins story of sorts for Elliot as well and explore how he becomes a supervillain.

It’s a good time to be a Hush fan right now. On top of this surprising Batwoman appearance, the Batman: Hush animated movie, that’ll adapt the seminal comic book story by Jeph Loeb that marked his debut, is out today. Plus, We Got This Covered has heard word that Hush may just appear in Matt Reeves’ The Batman to mess with Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight.

Dries has already teased that a “serious Batman villain” would appear on the series, and it seems that she was talking about Hush. This comes as exciting news, too, as the presence of the character in season 1 opens the door for more recognizable names from the Batman corner of the DC universe to appear on Batwoman in the future. No word on who could show up next, but for now, we’re certainly excited to see Thomas Elliot.
