First Trailer For Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Reboot Will Haunt Your Dreams

Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a cornerstone of ‘90s children’s entertainment, bringing scares to kids who left their TV on after those All That reruns ended. Given the lasting nightmares it brought almost all of us, the series is still talked about to this day and now, Nickelodeon is revamping the program for a whole new audience. In fact, it looks like it's headed in a surprising new direction, too.

Yes, as you may’ve heard, Are You Afraid of the Dark? is set to return to television this October, just in time for Halloween. It’ll boast a different Midnight Society as well, which will feature stars like Miya Cich, Sam Ashe Arnold, Tamara Smart, Lyliana Wray, and It’s Jeremy Taylor. From what we understand, the three-episode limited series will see the kids haunted by their own stories come-to-life and now, we have a very brief, but very creepy first look at the show thanks to the quick promo up above.

Being just the first teaser for this new take on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, we don’t get to see a whole lot, but the trailer offers up a tantalizing glimpse into what looks like something that will surely satisfy fans of the original.

“Are You Afraid of The Dark? was my introduction to the horror genre and made me a fan for life,” series writer BenDavid Grabinski told EW recently. “I hope we’re lucky enough to have our series do the same. It’s going to be a fun and scary ride, and I’m honored to introduce the Midnight Society to a whole new generation of kids.”

As you may know, the release of the Are You Afraid of the Dark? miniseries was originally supposed to coincide with a theatrical movie, which was marked in for October 11th. Unfortunately, though, Paramount has since shelved the project and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

However, if this new show does well enough and pushes the property back into the horror spotlight, then maybe the studio will reconsider and we’ll get that new Are You Afraid of the Dark? film after all. Fingers crossed, eh?
