Even though we have two months standing between us and the series premiere of Batwoman, it seems like there’s already so much to talk about. After all, not only will Hush make his live action debut very early on in the inaugural season (we’re not counting the adolescent Tommy Elliott from Gotham), but it’s expected that Supergirl will drop by for a small-scale crossover not long afterward, too.
Helping whet our appetites now is the network itself, this time releasing eight photos taken from the pilot episode. Seen in the gallery below are fresh images showing Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane in and out of costume, along with other characters such as Jacob Kane, a pre-Batwing Luke Fox and our first big bad, Alice – or Red Alice, if you prefer. Plus, we get a little teaser showing the lesbian relationship which led to the termination of Kate’s military career, which is very much in keeping with the comics.
In my view, these arrived just in time, because a lot of the marketing for this series hasn’t been all that great. Seriously, there’s no need for the suits in charge to overthink this, for they need only show Batwoman kicking ass while in costume in order to draw viewers. Instead, they’ve been releasing odd promos featuring footage that wasn’t even shot for the show itself, so it’s nice seeing something actually indicative of the content.
Having viewed a rough cut of the pilot myself, there are certainly a lot of compliments I could hurl its way – though those will be saved for our full review that’ll likely drop closer to showtime. Regardless, we anticipate sharing more goodies between now and then.

Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante.
