Will Ray Park Return As Darth Maul In The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series?

After years of rumors, a Star Wars return for Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi is finally in the offing, in the form of a Disney Plus TV series. That's pretty much all we know for now, but it's widely assumed that the show will take place in between Obi-Wan's self-imposed hermitude on Tatooine in Revenge of the Sith and his final confrontation with Darth Vader in A New Hope. This is a well-storied period of the SW universe, so there are numerous other familiar characters who could turn up. Not least his old enemy, Darth Maul. But how likely is this?

Well, Lucasfilm definitely did have plans to do more with Maul in live-action again, as his shock cameo in Solo was clearly intended to set up a larger role for him in the sequel. As this probably isn’t happening anytime soon, they could shunt the villain over into the Obi-Wan series instead. They could even continue the arc of his ruling of the criminal underworld via the Crimson Dawn syndicate.

The only thing is, though, that Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels already got a lot of mileage out of the rivalry between the Jedi master and the Sith lord. So, is there more story to tell between them?

That remains to be seen, but Ray Park is certainly up for another go-around as Maul. The actor has repeatedly stated his interest in donning the hornhead’s make-up again in the future. Folks have also noticed that Park has been tagging his Instagram posts with Star Wars hashtags. Is he hinting at a possible comeback that’s in the works, or is he simply making sure his fans see his posts? Park is providing some mocap for the upcoming Clone Wars revival, too, so that could lead to something more.

Last but not least, We Got This Covered heard back in June that Maul would indeed be returning for the project. Obviously, plans can change as development progresses, but it sure sounds like the Dathomirian menace will be getting his revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi very soon.
