Chris Pratt Teases That We May See Star-Lord Again Before Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Fans are itching to see the story of the Star-Lord and co. come to an end in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Unfortunately though, the threequel hasn't been announced yet and it looks like it could be with us as late as 2023. But at least now we've had a hint that the team may pop up in another MCU movie before then. And it comes from Peter Quill himself, Chris Pratt.

MTV’s Josh Horowitz caught up with the star to talk about Pixar’s Onward at D23, and closed the interview with a question about if Star-Lord could show up before GotG Vol. 3. “I know the answer to that,” Pratt teased, pulling a mischievous face. “I know the answer to that but I can’t tell you.”

First of all, as is usual for the actor, Pratt’s joking all the way through this chat, so this comment could just be the star leading Horowitz on and he might not actually know either way. Let’s take him at face value for now though and think where could Quill and the Guardians turn up before Vol. 3.

There’s one very obvious suggestion that springs to mind, of course: Thor: Love and ThunderThe God of Thunder was last seen onboard the Benatar in Avengers: Endgame, which led to fans expecting more from the Asgardians of the Galaxy in Vol. 3. As Thor 4 has turned out to be coming first, though, it makes sense that we might get a bit more of Chris Hemsworth with the team in Love and Thunder instead. We Got This Covered has even previously reported that this is indeed the plan.

As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 itself, that’s on hiatus until writer/director James Gunn is finished with DC’s The Suicide Squad. It’s thought that it’ll explore Rocket’s origins and introduce a bunch of new characters into the franchise, like Adam Warlock, Nova, Quasar, Moondragon and many others. It’s definitely not coming in 2020, 2021 or May 2022 (that’s Black Panther 2), though, so we’ll likely be waiting a while before we see it.
