The Guardians Of The Galaxy Will Cameo In Thor: Love And Thunder

When we last saw Thor in Avengers: Endgame, he was hitching a ride back into space with the Guardians. Naturally, then, we all assumed the God of Thunder would show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, when Marvel revealed their Phase 4 slate at Comic-Con, it came as a surprise that Thor: Love and Thunder was coming before the James Gunn threequel. But that doesn't mean the expected Thor/Guardians crossover isn't happening.

We Got This Covered has heard from our sources that Star-Lord and the gang will have a cameo in the fourth Thor movie. It’s likely their brief role will occur at the start of the film, while the Asgardian is still on board the Benatar. Don’t expect to see Gamora with them though, as per her disappearance in Endgame.

We’ve also had it confirmed that there were plans for Thor to cameo in Guardians 3, but with that being delayed due to all the hullabaloo over Gunn’s firing and rehiring, the crossover’s now been switched because Love and Thunder is arriving first. That said, the idea of Thor turning up in Vol. 3 hasn’t been ruled out yet, it’s just unclear what will happen with the threequel at the moment.

Our sources are confident though that the Guardians will be seen in Taika Waititi’s second Marvel project. And given that these are the same sources who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan, that Taskmaster’s the villain in Black Widow and that the Endgame re-release post-credits scene featured the Hulk – all of which were confirmed – we have no reason to doubt them.

In any case, Love and Thunder looks set to be one packed movie. Once Thor leaves the Guardians, we know he’ll encounter Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster again, but this time she’ll be the one to wield Mjolnir. Tessa Thompson’s Vakyrie is also returning, with the newly-crowned king of New Asgard on the hunt for a queen. Jeff Goldblum is also possibly involved, with reports saying Tom Hiddleston will be back as Loki. Not to mention that Idris Elba and Cate Blanchett want to be a part of the film as well.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on November 5th, 2021. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still awaiting a release date, but it’s widely speculated that it could drop on May 22nd, 2022.
