The other day it was announced that Olivia Wilde, Sarah Silverman, Judy Greer, Jessica Biel, and Michelle Monaghan were all testing for the lead in Don Scardino’s Burt Wonderstone, which is set to star Steve Carell. Now, THR is reporting that Wilde is now in talks to join the film, alongside Boardwalk Empire star Steve Buscemi.

Burt Wonderstone is the story of Steve Carell’s character, a “traditional magic man who is dethroned by a hipper illusionist doing dangerous tricks and breaks up with his partner, and then must find a way to rediscover his love for magic.” The film also has Jim Carrey and James Gandolfini in talks, who will play the rival magician and a casino owner, respectivley, if they join.

If negotiations go well, Wilde will play Carell’s love interest, who is also his assistant before later working for the character Carrey is negotiating for. If Buscemi’s negotiations pan out, he will play Carell’s close friend and partner in the act, who quits.

Burt Wonderstone is set to begin filming in January for a late 2012 release.
