It’s been a while since Nintendo has really had something to shout about, and it certainly feels like an age since the publisher has had an up and coming IP that more than just its hardcore fanbase are eagerly anticipating, but Zelda is finally back, and this time it’s bringing a whole new set of bells and whistles. Indeed, from its beautiful art style to the breathtaking scale of its open world, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an entirely new look for the series.
Wow! If 2015 was Sony’s so called “year of dreams,” then this year’s conference will have to go down as the moment when the company took fans to PlayStation nirvana and back.

In fact, 2016 is perhaps on course to become one of the great years in gaming history as a host of already superb titles are complemented by the impressive list of games still yet to come.
Announced to thunderous applause at last year’s E3, Final Fantasy VII Remake had gamers in tear of joy as they marvelled at the second coming of one of the most popular RPGs ever made, that is until they were hit with the sharp realization that the game would be released as multi-part series. The revelation rather dampened the romance of the announcement and spelt out all too vividly that the financial opportunity is very much at the heart of Square Enix’s motivation to remake Final Fantasy VII, and the publisher is going to do all they can to milk their cash cow.
Sony still hasn’t officially confirmed PS4 Neo, but there’s simply too much noise on the subject from too many different sources to ignore the rumours; upgraded consoles are real and they’re on the way sooner rather than later. Indeed, as the gaming industry eagerly awaits clarification from Sony, almost inevitably, rumours of a more powerful Xbox One have also surfaced.
Ratchet & Clank has caused quite the stir since it debuted last month on PlayStation 4. Releasing to widespread critical acclaim, its success seemed to catch the gaming community somewhat by surprise. Sony, too, apparently underestimated Ratchet & Clank’s popularity; or rather they underestimated the capacity of a reboot to garner such significant attention.
Brace yourselves everybody, E3 2016 is almost here! Yes, it’s that time of the year when gamers revel in the excitement of new industry information and the world's gaming press gear themselves up for an exhausting week of coffee fuelled press coverage. Forget the recent grumbles of the show losing some of its relevance, E3 is easily the industry’s most important calendar event and we’re expecting this year to be packed with tantalizing new gaming announcements.
