Back in 2010, Universal Pictures won the bidding war for the film rights to the Electronic Arts version of Dante's Inferno, but not much of anything had been heard about the project since. Now, three years later, it looks like the studio has finally found its director, with Evil Dead helmer Fede Alvarez in negotiations to direct.
The beauty of this first Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, is that it's based on a textbook. A textbook that nowhere near as many fans have read as the main book series. That means there aren't really any expectations fans should have, at least based on the book. Rowling is free to do what she wants with the film and the execs over at Warner Bros. are free to cast absolutely whomever they see fit. They can get as creative as they want with this, without having to stick to the restrictions of extensive character building that happens in a novel.
Last week we posted about how the shortlist of actors in consideration to play Flash on the CW's Arrow was down to three. Those actors were Matt Barr, Grant Gustin and James Mackay. Well now, the CW has made its decision, casting Grant Gustin as Barry Allen.
In 2007 The Man From Earth took the internet by storm, introducing a mind-boggling, completely compelling science fiction concept to an unexpectedly wide audience. It was writer Jerome Bixby’s final work, and the film wasn’t made until almost a decade after his death. Now, six years after the film’s release, the filmmakers are listening to the audience cries for more, and making a sequel titled Man From Earth Millennium.
As exciting as the prospect of the new Star Wars trilogy is, many have been even more excited about the spin-off films that are supposed to land in the years between the trilogy films. After all, we've seen a new trilogy before, and many fans were quite disappointed by it. But spin-off films on the other hand, that potential is endless. There could be an awesome Boba Fett film, stuff focused on the Sith when they were actually in power and not just a thing of the past, or basically anything else fans could dream of. But Disney's chief financial officer Jay Rasulo spoke at an investor conference today and referred to the spin-offs as "origin story films" which could end up being a lot less interesting than many have hoped.
The exciting first trailer for Jose Padilha's Robocop hit the web earlier this month, giving fans the first solid look at the long-anticipated remake. Today, to continue the promotion for the film, we have the first official poster showing Joel Kinnaman as the half-man, half-machine crimefighter.
Recently, a rumor recirculated about J.K. Rowling writing an 8th book in her Harry Potter series. That was clearly an April Fool's joke, but somehow didn't become big until late August. But today's news is no April Fool's joke. Rowling is writing a new film titled Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which will serve as the franchises' first spin-off.
If there's one thing It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has done better than any other show over the past 8+ years, it's tackle the political issues of America and the world in an effective way. This is a show where the first episode dealt with racism and homophobia all at once. Basically, they've never been afraid to deal with the tough issues, whether it be abortion or politicians blasting you in the ass. While there wasn't any ass blasting in this episode, they did bring things back to gun control, and discussed it in a hilariously poignant way.

Joel Edgerton has become one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood through a series of awesome supporting and leading performances, so now the question is just what will the Australian actor do next? Well, he's got at least five films lined up for release between now and 2014, but perhaps most exciting is his directorial debut Weirdo. We previously didn't have much in the way of details other than the fact Edgerton is directing, but in a recent interview he revealed some information on the plot for the film, which he also wrote.
