This is probably one WWII pic you haven't heard of, though it's been in the making for years and years. Red Tails is a George Lucas-produced actioner about the WWII Tuskegee Airmen, starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, and Terrence Howard. We now have the first trailer from Red Tails, and after years of red tape and re-shoots, the film will finally hit theaters on January 20, 2012.
Most fans of the classic The Smurfs cartoon find the idea of a feature-length CGI/live action version somewhat disconcerting, as these animated 3D hybrids have been less than dazzling in the past. While not smurf-tastic, The Smurfs is a cute family film that suffers from being a little formulaic and uninspired. Out in theaters on July 29th, The Smurfs is a great film for the kiddos and a chance for fans of the original to reminisce.
For those fans of HBO's long-running horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt, I have both good and bad news. According to Deadline, a new Tales from the Crypt series is in the works, though it won't be an anthology and it will see the characters of the original EC Comics' series set in a "modern context."

According to Deadline, both John Cusack and Nicolas Cage are in talks to star in Alaskan drama The Frozen Ground. This serial killer drama based on true-life criminal Robert Hansen will be written and directed by Scott Walker, in his feature-film directorial debut.

Deadline reports that Oscar-nominated movie star James Franco is returning to daytime TV to reprise his General Hospital serial killer/artist character Robert "Franco" Frank. Franco has had three stints on ABC's "last soap standing" and this return will apparently be long-term.
Looks like David Cronenberg's bizarre cult classic Scanners is going to be developed into a TV series. According to Deadline, the '80s sci fi horror is going to be made into a drama series for the small screen thanks to Dimension Films.
Today we get the first peek at concept art from Alex Proyas' upcoming Paradise Lost. Bradley Cooper will star as Lucifer in this epic project, based on John Milton's poem of Adam and Eve and the war between heaven and hell. The artwork received an unveiling at Comic-Con 2011, and looks to be a rendering of Cooper's character.
