Armored Core 5 Looking To Shake Things Up

AC pilots are going to get their hands on yet another mech effort in early 2012. Armored Core 5 has been announced for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, courtesy of Namco Bandai. Though there isn’t an English official website yet to describe the new features and such, Japanese gamers are getting an earful on the new direction this game is planning to head in.

Benjamin Walker Is Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Variety last night exclusively reported that Benjamin Walker will now play Abraham Lincoln in 20th Century Fox's much anticipated 2012 release, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Over these past few months, many names were in the running and had screen-tested, including Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, James D'Arcy, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. But Walker emerged as the front-runner, and the deal was finally agreed on Thursday.

New Poster For Battle: Los Angeles

Available online today is the latest Battle: Los Angeles movie poster. Interesting to note the title revealed has transformed into World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles. Jonathan Liebesman directs this action sci-fi for Columbia Pictures, which is scheduled for release in March. The movie tells the story of a Marine staff sergeant (played by Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon as they battle an enemy unlike any they’ve encountered before. I’m a big sci-fi fan so I may be biased, but I like the look of this, not to mention Aaron Eckhart in uniform!

I’m not the world’s biggest Twilight saga fan, but when a franchise so beloved as this sets out to ‘go on tour’, you have to wonder if the USGS will register a shift in the tectonic plates as team Edward and team Jacob begin to descend on fourteen cities across the US.

A friend of mine named Jason and I have been gamers ever since the beginning of gaming itself back in the late 70s and so much has changed in gaming since then. He is the first person shooter aficionado and I am the RPG fiend. So, at times when we get together and talk about what games we are going to buy this month, we tend to disagree on what looks interesting and what doesn’t. I’ve managed to surprise him and get him into blockbuster games that are hybrid versions of our favorite genres like Fallout 3, Oblivion, or Borderlands, but one craving I have that he will never understand is my infatuation with Koei’s hack n slash franchises Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors.

James Franco To Direct And Star In The Night Stalker

The New York Post is reporting that James Franco will make his directing debut, and star as the satanic serial killer Richard Ramirez, in a new feature film based on the late Philip Carlo’s true-crime novel ‘The Night Stalker’. It’s written for the screen by Nicolas Constantine and co-produced by Soundgarden’s front-man Chris Cornell. Shooting starts this summer when Franco, currently studying for his PhD, will be on a break from Yale.

The Mighty Prolific Anthony Hopkins

One of my favourite all-rounders when it comes to acting is Sir Anthony Hopkins. After hearing that he was going to be in a brand new superhero flick, I spent some time looking into his film career and was astonished to see the wealth of roles he has under his belt. Hopkins is the multi-award winning Welsh film, stage, and television actor that has played everyone from Saint Paul to Adolph Hitler. Perhaps best known for his depiction of eponymous serial killer Hannibal ‘the cannibal’ Lecter, in Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, as well as the sequel Hannibal (2001), and prequel Red Dragon (2002).

What a year 2010 has been for natural and not so natural disasters. An abundance of cataclysm and catastrophes ensures that screenwriters all over tinsel town are very busy these days.
