I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Hugh Jackman dodged a bullet when he turned down a role in Tom Hooper's Cats, but BossLogic imagines how he might have looked under digital fur technology.
Yesterday we reported that fans were concerned about the health of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. The actor displayed an impressive physique in his MCU appearances, but shocked fans when he appeared looking almost unrecognizably gaunt in a new Instagram video. Some theorized that he's just naturally skinny when he's not bulking up for a superhero role, some feared he's secretly seriously ill and some claimed he must be losing weight for an upcoming job.
After almost a month at the top of Netflix's charts, Tiger King has been dethroned. So, what's taken the top spot? Is it a shiny new prestige series? Another fascinatingly weird documentary? How about a topical movie about a pandemic? Nope, the current King of Netflix is 2010's Despicable Me, which is #1 on both the overall Top 10 and the Top 10 films list.
I used to love Mallrats back in the 1990s. Despite being a flop in theaters, Kevin Smith's sophomore release was more of a hit on VHS. The combination of gross-out humor and extremely nerdy inclinations was rare at the time, and I loved Stan Lee's extended cameo towards the end of the movie. This week marks the 25 years since the events of Mallrats took place, and to mark the occasion Smith has given us a tease of his upcoming sequel Twilight of the Mallrats, which he's currently writing.
Cats was a magnificent example of Hollywood hubris. Take an Oscar-winning director, a star-studded cast, and a much-loved musical. What could possibly go wrong? Just about everything as it turns out. The end product was genuinely nightmarish yet also somehow compelling. I saw it soon after release in cinemas and it's definitely an experience that's going to stay with me for a long time.
