The location of the Soul Stone was a huge plot point in Avengers: Infinity War. With Thanos desiring all the stones to carry out his genocidal plans, the Soul Stone proved to be the most tricky to track down. One of the few to know its true location was his adopted daughter Gamora, who swore to keep it a secret from him. However, faced with the sight of her sister Nebula being tortured, she finally revealed its location, which led to her death when Thanos sacrificed her to get his hands on it.
After nine seasons of playing zombie survivor Rick Grimes on AMC's The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln has some pretty strong ties to the character, the crew and the franchise in general. But with Rick set to leave the show midway through the ninth season, some had assumed that'd be it for his involvement with the series.
It'd been speculated ever since the first trailer that the studio released that Voldemort's pet snake and Horcrux Nagini would be making an appearance in human form in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Now, with the release of today's final trailer, we have confirmation that this is indeed the case.
Those with severe coulrophobia should probably stay away from cinemas next October, as Todd Phillips' Joker looks like their worst nightmare. With the New York location shoot ongoing, we've seen an awful lot of Joaquin Phoenix's version of the iconic DC villain over the last week, most of which seems to be a nutty fusion of Cesar Romero and Heath Ledger's differing takes on the character. But now, it seems as if Phillips and Phoenix are really trying to accentuate the 'clown' in Clown Prince of Crime. At least, if this newly-released production photo is anything to go by.
The photo that Patrick Stewart posted yesterday, showing the first meeting of the creative forces behind his return to the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, didn't contain any detail about what the show would consist of. It did however underline to fans that this is really happening: the wheels are in motion to do what just this summer seemed impossible and bring back one of the most beloved (maybe the most beloved) Star Trek captain in the franchise's history. But who could they call if the needed someone to play Picard in flashback?
Karen Gillan's Nebula is set to step into the limelight in Avengers 4. Her and Rocket Raccoon are the only cosmic MCU survivors of Thanos' snap, and she's got a more personal beef than most with the Mad Titan. And yet, the character might never have made it past Guardians of the Galaxy if it weren't for Gillan's performance in her screen test for the role.
Star Trek is arguably bigger now than it's ever been before. Season 2 of Discovery looks great and is set to air in early 2019, the next cinematic installment in the Kelvin timeline is being geared up (once they iron out Chris Pine's salary), Quentin Tarantino is developing his own Trek project and none other than Captain Jean-Luc Picard is making a comeback in a new show. And on top of that, you've got a plethora of Star Trek games, books and supplemental media that adds up to one of the healthiest franchises in science fiction.
Suicide Squad was an odd little blockbuster. Despite receiving awful reviews, it exceeded expectations at the box office, but Warner Bros. have been pretty coy about putting a sequel or spinoff into production. Now, it seems that director David Ayer has resigned himself to not working on future projects in the franchise and has been going on Twitter to answer questions about the film's production.
Warner Bros.' all-female Batman spinoff Birds of Prey has been fast-tracked through development, with the studio eager to get another film with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn into cinemas (Joker and Harley Quinn is a long way off yet). Now, with casting rumors flying in thick and fast and Cathy Yan attached to direct, we finally have a release date for the pic: February 7th, 2020.
