I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Marvel News India has been releasing some pretty interesting images of late relating to Avengers 4. Earlier this week, for instance, we got a look at a brutal twin-bladed sword rumored to be wielded by Thanos against our heroes and now, we've got a glimpse at a similarly fierce looking axe.
Last week the long-running lawsuit in which Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller contended that he was entitled to the rights to ideas, settings and characters contained in his script for the 1980 classic came to an end with a judge ruling in his favor. Current rights holders Horror Inc weren't best pleased with the result, explaining that they were planning to appeal it and that in any event they were planning to develop new projects based on concepts from the rest of the franchise (the status of Jason in all this was left vague).
While the torrent of leaks from Todd Phillips' Joker seems to have calmed down a little after that first wave of great pictures of Phoenix in full Crown Prince of Crime gear, the film continues its shoot in New York City.
Johnny Depp talks about Disney's paranoia about Captain Jack Sparrow back in 2003, when they were intensely worried that he was playing the Pirates of the Caribbean role as gay.
The Batman star Ben Affleck hasn't had the best 2019. Despite landing what he considered a dream role in the Caped Crusader, he's had to contend with constant rumors that Warner Bros. are going to recast the part, intrusive paparazzi documenting the groceries being delivered to his home, his alcohol addiction worsening, his ex-wife Jennifer Garner staging an intervention and finally, an extended treatment for addiction.
I really wasn't expecting to like The Crown as much as I did. A glacially slow-paced period drama about postwar British politics and the particulars of Queenly etiquette? It doesn't exactly sound like hi-octane gripping television. But it didn't take many episodes for it to get its teeth into me and have me gasping at every breach of Royal tradition and intrigued by the handover between the Churchill and Eden government. All this has me very excited for the third season, which introduces Olivia Colman as the new Elizabeth.
With the film having an impressive cast, a director, important members of the crew and a script locked down, I'd assumed that Todd McFarlane's upcoming Spawn... Do You Believe? (yup, that's the planned title) was going to start shooting sometime pretty soon. Well, apparently not. There's one detail that McFarlane hasn't actually managed to nail down yet. Apparently, he still needs a studio to greenlight the movie.
Peter Jackson brought J.R.R. Tolkein's Middle-earth to life in his Lord of the Rings trilogy, three movies with huge ambitions, unimaginable amounts of care poured into them and which were obvious labors of love. Oh, and he also made some Hobbit films. After all this time spent painstakingly molding the world in his image, you might think he'd be a little put out at Amazon developing a Lord of the Rings prequel TV series without his involvement. But apparently, nothing could be further from the truth.
