David Ayer Confirms Gotham City Sirens Still In Development
With Justice League a critical and commercial flop, the future of the DCEU is up in the air at the moment. No doubt there's been some very serious meetings attended by very serious looking men on the Warner Bros. lot as they try and puzzle out how they could have got it so wrong, and one upshot of all this is that the slate of upcoming DCEU films is currently in flux, with various already announced/in production projects probably on hold. One of these seems to be Gotham City Sirens, intended to be helmed by Suicide Squad director David Ayer.

Luke Was Originally Going To Destroy His X-Wing In Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Star Wars: The Last Jedi rewards careful viewers, and one of the more interesting and subtle moments was spotting Luke Skywalker's iconic X-Wing sunken in the shores off his island home in Ahch-To. I was thinking about why we saw this and, aside from explaining how Luke got there in the first place, it functions as a red herring to preserve the twist of Luke's Force projection in the finale. After all, without a working ship there's no way he can leave the planet (and we already know the X-Wing can survive immersion in water from Empire).

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi Petition Has Taken A Surprising Turn
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a fantastic film and easily in my top three Star Wars movies of all-time (The Empire Strikes Back is top, with this and A New Hope currently jockeying for second and third). One of the reasons I love it is because Rian Johnson has the stones to take this multibillion-dollar franchise in unpredictable and exciting new directions, injecting a load of new themes and ideas and seriously dialing down the nostalgia.

Are The Ancient Jedi Texts In Star Wars: The Last Jedi The Journal Of The Whills?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi largely did away with the J.J. Abrams puzzlebox narrative tricks that dragged down The Force Awakens. What would Luke do with the lightsaber handed to him by Rey? Toss it away dismissively. Who was Snoke? Doesn't matter. Who were Rey's parents? Total nobodies. To be honest, it was pretty amusing from a personal standpoint, having written numerous speculative articles about what might be going on that were rendered completely redundant at the stroke of a pen (or in Snoke's case, a lightsaber).

Eddie Redmayne is known for his commitment to his roles, and now he's gone one step further by injuring himself in a way that wizards and witches in the Harry Potter universe must be familiar with. Yup, he's got "Wand Shoulder Strain." Disney Had Sequel Plans For Beauty And The Beast Involving Gaston
Everyone knows Gaston dies at the end of Beauty and the Beast, but what the original draft of the script for the recent remake presupposed was... maybe he doesn't? Yes, strange as it sounds considering that the film was remarkably faithful to the 1992 animated classic, there were plans until "the 11th hour" for Gaston to survive and actually become the focus of a planned sequel.

Gwyneth Paltrow Marks Ten Years Of Iron Man And Pepper Potts With Cute Pic
While Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts isn't a hugely important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's always nice to see her pop up in the movies. That said, her five-year absence after Iron Man 3 led some to conclude that Marvel Studios had decided that it simply wasn't affordable to continue her contract. That's why it was such a surprise to see Pepper in the final scenes of this summer's Spider-Man: Homecoming, having apparently been busy running Stark Industries while its owner runs around endangering and then saving the world.

Disney CEO Touches Base On Plans For Their New Non-Marvel Franchises
With the ink now drying on Disney's $52.4 billion merger with 21st Century Fox, much attention has been paid to the transfer of the X-Men and Fantastic Four rights and their future inclusion in a revamped Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that deal doesn't just buy a load of superheroes, it's given the studio the rights to many, many other movies franchises as well and now, Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that they'll "look carefully" at their new IP lineup to work out what they can do with it.

Does Star Wars: The Last Jedi Hint At A Rey/Poe Romance For Episode IX?
No, it doesn't. Next question. Oh right, these articles are usually a bit longer than that. Right, well certain sites are currently speculating that the closing scenes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi hint at a future romance (Poemance?) between Daisy Ridley's Jedi ingenue Rey and Oscar Isaac's dashing pilot Poe Dameron. Now, the closing scenes do indeed see the two characters cross paths and they certainly look pleased to finally meet one another, but sparks of romance? Nah.
