Even by the standards of three-hour films, Avengers: Endgame packs a lot of content into its runtime, but one sequence that some fans spent the entire movie waiting for was the oft-predicted “rematch” between Hulk and Thanos.
On the newly available commentary track for the Avengers: Endgame digital release, the team behind the highest grossing film of all time took the opportunity to share a few thoughts on the joke that put the “ass” in “Avengers assemble.”

Earlier this month, Avengers: Endgame co-writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that early plans for the movie saw the 2014 version of Thanos kill all the Avengers in his timeline before meeting up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the present day.
