Though Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently reaffirmed that they won’t be announcing any future releases until this year’s slate is over and done with, various reports have already given us a pretty good idea of what’s to come in the next phase of the franchise. And in a new piece from ComicBook.com, a list is offered of the first six MCU flicks that are expected to come out after Avengers: Endgame brings the current era to a close.
While the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame already made it perfectly clear that the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel will be taking us back to the team’s HQ, a recent LEGO leak goes one further to suggest that the Avengers compound, as well as Tony Stark’s armor room, might serve as the backdrop for a little action.
Though the spoiler-conscious Marvel Studios has yet to release any footage of Captain Marvel in Avengers: Endgame, this latest batch of leaked promo art sure isn’t trying to hide her, with the MCU’s most powerful hero showing up on t-shirts, logos and even bottles of Coke.
As the Disney/Fox deal edges ever closer to completion, fans continue to speculate on how Marvel Studios might make use of their newly acquired properties, and while the X-Men and Deadpool have dominated most such conversations, many of us have long assumed that the Fantastic Four will also be factoring into Kevin Feige’s vision for the future.
Last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned at the quarterly earnings call that the company intends to branch out into R-rated Marvel movies, and while Deadpool was the only property he singled out by name, one exceptionally bloody superhero series is likely to open the door for others. And since the rumors of an R-rated Black Widow movie were recently shot down by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, there’s already been some speculation that Blade might be next to take advantage of Disney’s newfound openness.
Captain Marvel is just a few days away from making her MCU debut, but if Joss Whedon had been given his way a few years ago, then Carol Danvers would’ve been brought into the superhero saga as far back as 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
While the X-Men film series has done remarkably well to last as long as it has, many Marvel fans are struggling to summon much enthusiasm these days for the latest adventures of Charles Xavier and his peers, suggesting that the time may be right for the franchise to get a clean slate. And sure enough, in the wake of the Disney/Fox merger, it seems that Marvel Studios is planning just that.
With the Disney/Fox deal expected to close later this month, Marvel Studios will soon be at liberty to bring the X-Men into the MCU, and since the whole reason why fans are excited about this development is the prospect of finally seeing the Marvel mutants cross paths with the Disney roster, it figures that Kevin Feige and his team will have some crossover projects lined up.
The Marvel Studios bosses have repeatedly gone on record reaffirming their commitment to improve the level of diversity in their upcoming releases, and with the X-Men franchise soon to come under Disney’s ownership, it sounds like Kevin Feige and his team are taking the opportunity to put their words into action.
Late last month, it was confirmed in an Entertainment Weekly article that the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park expansion will feature an “elite squad from the First Order” named “the Red Fury,” whose ship will be a TIE Echelon with “a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s batwinged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1.” And while it was previously speculated that this fighter will feature in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, a recent report from ABC news correspondent Clayton Sandell makes this possibility seem more likely than ever.
