If you've been keeping up with Marvel titles for the past year or so, then you're well aware of how there's been a great resurgence in all things mutant. In fact, the publisher has been churning out more books featuring those of the gifted variety than we've seen in quite some time, even launching series with varying lineups like X-Men Gold and X-Men Blue.
Among many things, one reason DC fans have to look forward to the upcoming live action Titans series is that it'll feature the first iteration of Dick Grayson to have appeared outside of comics or animation for quite some time. Granted, he may still be operating under the guise of Robin as opposed to Nightwing, but it's still cause for celebration.
These days, people don’t take comic book deaths seriously – and there’s a reason for that. Basically, pretty much any hero or villain to have bitten to the dust returns at some point, usually within a few years when it comes to deaths that have occurred in this decade. Still, there are a few to never have been undone or have stuck for quite some time.
Now that we've enjoyed appearances made by the likes of Manu Bennett's Deathstroke and Colton Haynes' Roy Harper, Arrow aims to check off yet another box when it comes to returning fan favorite guest stars. This time, though, it comes in the form of Katrina Law, who's turned in some unforgettable performances as Nyssa al Ghul.
Well, the moment we've been waiting for finally arrived tonight when Jerome Valeska made his triumphant return to Gotham. And while he did steal every scene he appeared in, he didn't eat up too much screentime. In fact, during the time he did stick around for, he was busy planting seeds for what's to come, hoping to enlist Penguin as the first to join his "Legion of Horribles."
While it may take the remaining time leading up to Avengers: Infinity War to discuss the myriad of reasons we have to anticipate the film, it's best we narrow the focus for just a moment. As you know, this movie will mark the culmination of everything the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building to for the past ten years, dating all the way back to the first Iron Man flick. Really, it's been that long.
If anything, 2018 is proving to be a time for innovation over at DC Comics. Not only have they kicked off their New Age of Heroes initiative, but there's also that matter of the Sandman Universe giving fans something to look forward to. The fun doesn't stop there, either, as the publisher has now pulled back the curtain on what's being called DC Black Label.
Over the years, Scooby-Doo and the gang have taken part in some memorable team-ups. Believe it or not, those meddling kids can lay claim to having met the likes of Batman and Robin, the Three Stooges, the Harlem Globetrotters and even the cast of Gilligan’s Island. In fact, DC even published an ongoing comic titled Scooby-Doo Team-up in recent years.
Before, it was always cool to hear whatever information pertained to appearances made by Jerome Valeska, the proto-Joker, but now the excitement has been kicked up a notch knowing how greatly he factors into the remainder of Gotham season 4. Not only that, but whatever that'll entail is expected to yield events greatly influenced by some of the most definitive Batman stories to have been produced by the comic book medium.
Lately, things have been a little too quite on the front that is Earth-38. Really, aside from a name-drop over on Black Lightning, we haven't been given anything to discuss when it comes to Supergirl. Sure, a lengthy hiatus may be to blame, but the folks in Vancouver have been pretty tight-lipped nonetheless.
