Now that we have less than two weeks separating us from the sixth season of Arrow, The CW has thankfully chosen to serve up an extended trailer. Previously, all we had received was a brief promo and a gallery of preview images, which were much appreciated, but we were clamoring for something as meaty as other recent DC TV teasers.
One reason why the character of Batman has endured for 78 years is that he's so malleable. Sure, there are intrinsic qualities that unite various interpretations such as his superior intellect, martial arts skills and care for his fellow man, but that doesn't mean there haven't been portrayals on opposite ends of the spectrum. For example, both Adam West and Ben Affleck have brought something very different to the table, but neither man's efforts were no less valid than the other - and the same sentiment can be extended to comics and animation.
If we've learned anything from Supernatural, it's that a character's death is by no means a guarantee that they'll never return. Really, Bobby bought it in season 7 and still went on to be a recurring character. Heck, how many times have Sam and Dean Winchester themselves died? And now that the concept of alternate universes has been wholeheartedly embraced, the possibilities are endless.
Even with the possibility of the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War debuting tomorrow night being a reality, I think you may agree with me in saying that it doesn't hurt to occupy the interim with other bits of news related to the monumental film that's serving as the culmination of everything Marvel Studios have been building to since the release of 2008's Iron Man.
While we anxiously await the final trailer for Justice League, a few notable goodies have dropped in the interim. In fact, earlier today, a new promo and freshly revealed magazine cover helped tide us over as we look forward to the first big screen gathering of DC's premier superhero team.
Right now, it's probably safe to assume that we're all waiting for the final trailer for Justice League to drop. After all, we have less than two months to go until DC's premier superheroes unite on the big screen for the first time, and New York Comic Con is right around the corner, so something's got to give, right?
With just under two weeks to go until The Flash returns for another exciting season, one of the questions on all of our minds is the same as it whenever this time of year rolls around: What of the new heroes and villains? Well, we were recently offered some intriguing teasers as to how the incoming Elongated Man will interact with the Scarlet Speedster, but two other major players are also to be addressed.
If anything can be said about Batman’s rogues gallery, it’s that it boasts the deepest and arguably most psychologically complex collection of villains in all of comics. One such baddie that’s enjoyed some time in the limelight following the success of 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises is that of everyone’s favorite militant to don a luchador mask, who was recently granted a 12-issue limited series written and illustrated by his original creators in the form of Bane: Conquest.
With The CW being able to claim serious bragging rights due to the fact that they’re home to a shared DC TV universe, it only makes sense that the various shows populating it not only intermingle here and there, but come together for a full-on crossover each fall. Just last week, the fan base went nuts upon finding out that this year’s offering has been dubbed “Crisis on Earth-X,” therefore making it the most ambitious to date. Not meaning to sound boastful, but we did call this before any official announcement was made.
I think it’s safe to say that we were knocked on our collective rears when a Flashpoint movie was announced at San Diego Comic-Con back in July. Granted, we’ve known that Warner Bros. have been keen on the idea of bringing the Scarlet Speedster to the silver screen for some time now, but an origin story was probably what we were all expecting – not an adaptation of one of DC Comics’ most definitive tales to have been produced in this decade.
