Much like its other sister shows occupying the Arrowverse, Supergirl has embraced the comic books that have inspired it by surrounding the title character with a rich supporting cast. Aside from Kara's sister, Alex, fans have come to also love the likes of James Olsen/the Guardian, J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter and Mon-El.
Now that we have the epic battle that was Steve Rogers versus Steve Rogers which took place in Secret Empire #10 behind us, we can look forward to something a little more uplifting. As it turns out, it'll come in the form of a Generations one-shot that'll unite Captain Americas Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson. Yes, after a year or so of all that Hydra jazz, the American Dream is finally alive and well.
Despite Task Force X's first cinematic outing having proved divisive amongst critics and moviegoers alike, it's impossible to deny that it was actually a box office success and a merchandising monster. Thus, it really comes as no surprise that Warner Bros. are said to have put Suicide Squad 2 on the fast-track.
Despite Warner Bros. having said they planned to develop a Shazam movie years ago, that didn't make me any less surprised to hear that not only is it finally happening, but also that filming is expected to commence early next year. Sure, the studio has found another bankable hero aside from Batman in the form of Wonder Woman, but it never hurts to have a few more aces up your sleeve.
After taking a lengthy – and much needed – hiatus from cinemas, the Saw franchise is finally ready to once again shed gallons of blood with its latest installment, Jigsaw. But despite featuring a returning Tobin Bell who’s set to reprise the role of John Kramer in some capacity, all signs point toward a copycat at play, but more on that later.
Aside from laying claim to stunning action sequences, The Flash has especially excelled at crafting compelling interpersonal relationships between its major players, thereby lending itself to great drama and much levity. To date, we normally think of Barry Allen as being the nucleus at S.T.A.R. Labs, as we don't often see too many of the characters fraternizing apart from the group unless it pertains to romantic pursuits.
Now that the highly anticipated release of Batman and Harley Quinn is finally upon us, the folks at Warner Bros. are sending out one last reminder to fans in the form of a previously unreleased clip. Having already seen the animated film in its entirety for myself, I can say with certainty this particular excerpt gives potential viewers a good idea of what awaits them.
Regardless of how you may feel about it, Marvel has successfully gotten the comic book world to pay attention to its latest major crossover event, Secret Empire. Thanks to some sharp writing by Nick Spencer and gorgeous artwork provided by some of the biggest names in the business, the story alone has certainly done its job when it comes to achieving high sales figures.
You know, I really feel like I'm playing devil's advocate whenever I say something supportive about Gotham. Really, angry fanboys have made it the Roman Reigns of the DC TV family. But despite it taking the basics of the Batman mythos and using them to build something that's all its own, I've really come to enjoy this series as I believe it makes for some rather stellar television. Granted I can't speak for where the producers may be headed in the future, but in the meantime, I'm having a ball watching.
With Ben Affleck currently serving as the DC Extended Universe's Batman and doing a fine job of it, one can't help but wonder what subsequent installments in the film franchise will bring to the table, and which elements from the source material they'll adapt to live action that have yet to be seen.
