When it comes to the definitive conclusion to any work of fiction, you have to think the writers behind it are tasked with something unimaginably difficult and simply can't satisfy every fan out there. According to many Game of Thrones devotees I know, they wish they could scrub season 8 from their memories. As for shows I dug, Gotham's series finale satisfied me for the most part, whereas iZombie's wasn't akin to anything I envisioned. I mean, it was technically good, but I never thought the tale would leave off like it did.
After establishing himself as Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Idris Elba joined the ever-growing club of actors who've batted for both teams by making the leap to the DC Extended Universe. Soon enough, we'll see him lighting up the screen in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.
Since Supergirl was granted the right to roll out its own take on Superman, it's only natural for fans to expect Batman showing up at some point on the upcoming Batwoman TV series. After all, the two pointy-eared heroes are cousins, much like the Kryptonians just mentioned.
When Marvel Studios finally announced their complete Phase Four slate at San Diego Comic-Con last month, I think we all cheered in unison because we'd been let in on the secret at long last. Not only do their upcoming plans include a handful of new films to be released in cinemas, but a few new TV shows running alongside them on the Disney Plus streaming service as well.
This year alone, the geek community has had to say their share of heartfelt goodbyes. Not only did Avengers: Endgame mark the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we've lost Game of Thrones, Gotham and iZombie on the TV side of things. And with the fall season fast approaching, we'll soon be forced to let both Arrow and Supernatural go as well.
Despite the announcement of Supernatural ending with its fifteenth season coming down this past March, I'm not sure if I've fully adjusted to the news. Having been on board with the cult favorite horror series since the pilot episode originally aired, it sure will be hard to fill that void left by Sam and Dean Winchester's adventures. After all, that's a decade-and-a-half of "saving people and hunting things," my friends in the "SPN Family."
Much as I suspected it would, Gotham recently concluding its run over on Fox is already opening a veritable treasure trove of villains for use in the Arrowverse. Granted, a generous amount of Batman's rogues have already appeared on Arrow in previous years, but we'll get to see new interpretations of other baddies once Batwoman's inaugural season gets underway.
Even though we have two months standing between us and the series premiere of Batwoman, it seems like there's already so much to talk about. After all, not only will Hush make his live action debut very early on in the inaugural season (we're not counting the adolescent Tommy Elliott from Gotham), but it's expected that Supergirl will drop by for a small-scale crossover not long afterward, too.
Ever since The Flash and Arrow first crossed over, those and various other DC TV series on The CW have intermingled on a frequent basis, and we're not just talking about those massive crossovers occurring each fall. Hey, the Scarlet Speedster even dropped by Supergirl's show while she still called CBS home, along with countless other examples we could mention.
With filming on Supergirl's fifth season underway, the news just keeps on coming in. For those keeping score, know that the Girl of Steel herself will finally sport a brand new costume, Meaghan Rath will play a female version of Brainiac-5, and the mysterious organization known as Leviathan have their sights set on National City. Yeah, there's going to be a lot to talk about come this fall.
