Another Batman Villain Has Been Confirmed For Batwoman Season 1

Much as I suspected it would, Gotham recently concluding its run over on Fox is already opening a veritable treasure trove of villains for use in the Arrowverse. Granted, a generous amount of Batman's rogues have already appeared on Arrow in previous years, but we'll get to see new interpretations of other baddies once Batwoman's inaugural season gets underway.

As you may have heard by now, Hush will make his first live action appearance very early on. While you could argue semantics by saying Gotham already accomplished that, it’s worth pointing out how Tommy Elliott showed up only as a teenager on the Fox series. Having him decked out in trenchcoat and bandages, however, is another matter entirely.

Believe it or not, Magpie will be stopping by Batwoman sometime thereafter, too, as announced this past weekend at the TCA press tour. As of right now, no specifics were given, so it should be intriguing to see how this iteration will differ from the one spotted this past spring on Gotham‘s final season.

If you’ll recall, Gotham‘s take on Magpie took some visual cues from her counterpart on the short-lived Beware the Batman animated series. As much as I loved that ensemble in CGI form, I’m not so sure if Batwoman‘s costuming department will go in that direction – but you can never be too sure.

As always, it’s recommended that you keep watching this space because Magpie’s casting should be imminent. And after her, who knows which other comic book villains will follow? We can probably rule out major players like Joker and Penguin, but there are countless others who’ve come through town. I’d like to throw the Religion of Crime out there, though my gut tells me they’re being saved for future seasons.

Batwoman premieres on Sunday, October 6th on The CW.
