A woman on TikTok claimed that she had to contact DoorDash to have her order canceled after her dasher allegedly went rogue and began driving away with her food. According to the customer, the dasher claimed that the app wasn’t working, although in her TikTok video she claimed that the food courier had possibly eaten her food.
The video, which was posted to TikTok by Vic, showed what appeared to be the Dasher being tracked through the DoorDash app. They can be seen driving somewhat aimlessly for nearly two minutes. The caption claims that the DoorDash driver is “purposefully going in the opposite direction and sitting in a random street to get me to cancel my order because they ate it.”
In the video description, Vic goes into more detail, claiming that she ordered her food at 5:00 p.m. and the delivery was supposed to arrive at her place around half an hour later. However, according to Vic, “after the dasher picked up the food, she sat in a random parking lot not too far from the restaurant for about 15 minutes.”
While there would be no way to confirm that the dasher had eaten Vic’s food while in the parking lot, Vic seems to believe that is what happened. She claims she did try to contact the DoorDash driver, but they allegedly told her that “her app wasn’t working.” When she tried to contact them again, she says she received no response for 50 minutes.
DoorDash refunded the order
Vic says she watched the dasher start to drive towards her home before making “about 9 wrong turns,” and sit “3 different times for about 10 minutes at a time in random streets.”
After almost an hour, the dasher allegedly told Vic that the app still wasn’t working and stopped replying once again after they asked her to cancel the order. After almost an hour, Vic claims she contacted DoorDash directly and had the order canceled.
Customer experiences with DoorDash can vary, like most food delivery services. Viewers on TikTok took the opportunity to share their own experiences with bad dashers; one commenter claimed that they had ordered $100 of groceries but “the dasher straight up never came.” Another claimed their dasher “was staying in the same spot for over 2 hours.”
Other commenters questioned whether such behavior from dashers would result in an instant ban. According to the DoorDash website, dashers typically receive an instant ban for severe violations of it’s policies such as assault or threats. However, dashers can be banned for repeated violations “like failure to complete deliveries safely or on time.”
