Now that Rhea's endgame has been put into action, the stakes on Supergirl have never been raised higher as Earth-38 now has a full-scale alien invasion on its hands. As it turned out, all that jazz involving out of control Phorians last night was the fault of Mon-El's mother after all.
Despite experiencing a bit of a ratings slump in recent weeks, Gotham has absolutely been on fire since returning for the second half of its third season. Whether it be Edward Nygma fully embracing his destiny as the Riddler or Jim Gordon infiltrating the Court of Owls (oh yeah, it definitely happened last night), this series consistently finds news ways of guaranteeing I'm on the edge of my seat each and every week.
Not to be outdone by Marvel having turned Captain America Steve Rogers into an agent of Hydra, DC has decided to push the envelope itself by taking one of its most beloved heroes in an unexpected direction. Granted we've seen a dictator Superman in the Injustice video games and comics, but the writers managed to make the Man of Steel's heel turn rather believable. Already knowing that Nightwing: The New Order will undoubtedly create some backlash, we can only hope the folks at DC are bracing themselves.
Although Supergirl will most certainly have her hands full over the course of this season's remaining three episodes having to deal with the likes of Rhea and General Zod, James Olsen is set to get some needed exposure tonight in "City of Lost Children."
Similar to the treatment Arrow was given a few weeks back, The CW has put together a sizzle reel hinting at what's to come in the remaining episodes of The Flash season 3. Truth be told, I got the impression that something like this wouldn't be released because nothing dropped around the time of the video package for the sister show, but it stands to reason that the network opted to hold off for a bit until Savitar was unmasked.
Now that the cat is out of the bag and Savitar's true identity has finally been revealed, The Flash is free to run fast and loose in this season's remaining three episodes. Aside from the big unmasking, Caitlin Snow has fully evolved into Killer Frost and, believe it or not, the producers have somehow managed to intertwine these two hugely important plot threads.
Say what you want about Marvel's latest event book, Secret Empire, and the myriad of controversy surrounding it, but it's undeniable that writer Nick Spencer and company have been knocking it out of the park thus far. In fact, both issues #0 and #1 have had the honor of receiving perfect scores from us (respective reviews can be found here and here).
Now that Secret Empire is finally underway, it's consistently succeeded in sparking controversy and inciting much debate among the comic book community with each bold creative decision taken. But, then again, such a thing is to be expected when it's revealed that Captain America is the head of Hydra and is trying to take over the world. In fact, this past weekend was marked by seeing displeased fans burning the Secret Empire Free Comic Book Day title that saw Rogers be deemed worthy of wielding Mjolnir. The unfortunate thing, however, is that had anyone actually taken the time to read this series, they'd realize how incredible it's been so far.
If you're a Batfan who makes weekly trips to their local comic shop, odds are that you're keeping up with standards such as Batman, Detective Comics or maybe even Nightwing. But one possibly overlooked gem that deserves a deeper look by all is that of Red Hood and the Outlaws.
Had you witnessed last night's episode of Supernatural, you saw the Winchester-British Men of Letters alliance finally start to implode, something we've been waiting to see for some time now. But, with the season finale less than two weeks away, it's expected that major developments occur.
