Although you can still catch Marvel's most iconic heroes over on Disney XD, the House of Ideas have decided to expand their animation library by crossing over with the Japanese anime realm yet again with Future Avengers.
Knowing that the highly anticipated theatrical release of Wonder Woman is just over three months away, many fans have been chomping at the bit for a final trailer, which will hopefully be attached to Logan later this week. If not, it stands to reason that it shouldn’t be too long before it finds its way online.
Although not many may come to think it, Hulk and Wolverine have been inextricably linked since they went toe to toe in Logan’s first appearance way back in The Incredible Hulk #181. As time has gone by, the two have repeatedly locked horns, teamed up and even carried their storied history over into other media, namely the 2009 animated film Hulk vs. Wolverine, which I highly recommend checking out.
Although Thor and his hammer, Mjolnir, are synonymous to mainstream moviegoers, it may surprise some to learn that he and his favorite piece of hardware have actually been separated for several years in the comics. But when The Unworthy Thor #5 hits stands next month, a significant stride will be taken toward arriving back at the status quo.
With the last full-fledged team-up entry in the franchise already almost a year behind us now, fans and filmmakers alike have had X-Men: Supernova - the supposed title of the series' next outing - on their minds. And although not many concrete details have surfaced as of yet, all signs point towards it adapting The Dark Phoenix Saga.
There's one thing that's become apparent to me over the years: Once you've played an iconic DC character, you may very well find yourself employed for life. In fact, Supergirl is a fine example of this. Kara's adoptive parents are played by none than Dean Cain and Helen Slater, who previously inhabited the roles of Superman and Supergirl, respectively. Aside from that, not too long ago it was revealed that yet another fan favorite will have the chance to run with the torch again when Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman alumnus Teri Hatcher was announced as having been cast in a mysterious villainous role.
Earlier this week, pretty much everybody's jaw hit the floor when it was revealed that Warner Bros. were finally willing to go ahead with a Nightwing movie, something that many Bat-fans would say is long overdue. Personally, this was on a very short list of superhero films I wanted to see made within my lifetime and truly hope it comes to fruition.
While Marvel and DC battle to see who wins at the box office, it’s virtually inarguable that it's the latter who dominates the small screen. Now having taken over four nights of the week when it comes to prime time programming, serialized superhero storytelling has swiftly become a cornerstone in the lives of many a geek these days.
Today is the day many a DC fan have been waiting for, as we now know who will inhabit the lead role of Jefferson Pierce for The CW's Black Lightning pilot: Cress Williams. Quite frankly, his casting shouldn't come as too much of a shocker, as the network likes to keep employing actors they've become familiar with and his experience on Hart of Dixie may very well have helped stack the deck in his favor.
Although comic book movies are flooding cinemas now more than ever, it's probably safe to assume that fans are satisfied more often than not when they leave theaters. One exception to the rule, however, is that of the Fantastic Four franchise, which has thrice failed to resonate with audiences at large.
