With Batman himself set to feature in Gotham's highly anticipated series finale, it was only a matter of time before pictures of his costume hit the web. The big question, however, was whether Fox would beat everyone else to the punch by releasing official images, or if the reverse would hold true and something would leak. As fate would have it, the latter occurred when we saw the Dark Knight's duds earlier this week.
When we got our first look at China Anne McClain fully decked out as Lightning last December, the fanbase went into a frenzy - in a good way. And after that, we assumed that she'd be suiting up and fighting alongside her family shortly thereafter.
From the look of it, the producers behind The Flash really put a lot of thought into the trio of episodes currently unfolding. Last night, Cicada willingly took the metahuman cure - only for yet another Cicada (his niece, somehow aged to adulthood) to emerge and take his place. And if that weren't enough, Godspeed finally debuts in 5x18.
If the title of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" alone didn't make it clear that the Arrowverse landscape will be altered following said crossover event, then recent news making its rounds most certainly should. After all, Arrow itself will be ending with the tenth episode of its eighth season and, if you do the math, that'll arrive hot on the heels of the prime time extravaganza.
In addition to possibly losing a major cast member or two this summer, there's more change on the horizon for The Flash as it heads into its sixth season. Believe it or not, this is at the very top of the food chain, as the DC Comics-based series is set to gain a new head honcho.
Aside from having James Gunn taking over creative reins for The Suicide Squad, it appears as though this whole different ballgame will be reflected by that of a drastic shakeup to the Task Force X lineup. In other words, many of the convicts who appeared in the first flick are said to have been jettisoned in favor of King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker and a gender-swapped Ratcatcher. And while Will Smith is no longer playing Deadshot and may be replaced by Idris Elba, Margot Robbie is expected to return as Harley Quinn.
When it came to Will Smith's take on Deadshot in 2016's Suicide Squad, it became obvious that director David Ayer wanted to have the character exist in a grey area similar to more recent iterations offered in comics, animation and television. This is understandable because unless Floyd Lawton is to be the villain of the piece, you're going to need the audience to root for him. Actually, I've seen this method applied to a variety of characters headlining their own comics published in recent years, from Deathstroke to even Poison Ivy.
As a fan of Arrow, I must admit that I'm conflicted at the moment. Like many of you, I'm very much looking forward to next week's episode, "Star City 2040," but I'm dying to see what lies ahead in the present day narrative for Emiko Queen now that we know it's she who burned Ricardo Diaz alive in his prison cell. As always, all we can really do is enjoy the ride.
If there's anything we can say about the legendary Rob Liefeld and his relationship with Deadpool, it's that he certainly hasn't forgotten about the character since creating him back in the early 1990's. And though the Merc with a Mouth has generously evolved in the time since, the writer-artist has returned to lend his talent in recent works such as Bad Blood. Furthermore, he's not shy when it comes to chiming in on certain topics on social media.
Now that we know for sure James Gunn is both writing and directing Task Force X's next cinematic outing, incidentally titled The Suicide Squad, the team lineup is already looking to take shape. And as one would expect, it appears as though the former Guardians of the Galaxy helmer is taking the whimsical approach.
