Though the average superhero movie clocks in at around two hours, one could say it was The Dark Knight Rises' impressive running time that opened the floodgates for various successors in the years to follow. Had Christopher Nolan's epic not hit the billion dollar mark in 2012, we may not be having this conversation today.
If you're up to speed on Gotham, then you remember meeting Eduardo Dorrance in the most recently aired episode, "Pena Dura." Played by Shane West, this fella will actually transition to the Bane persona before you know it, but he's going to be giving Jim Gordon and the rest of the GCPD their share of headaches before the big moment arrives.
Though it's been nearly three months since Stan Lee's unfortunate passing, I think it's fair to say that world is still left shaken by the loss of a legend. After all, not only did he create icons such as the X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and countless others, but he also featured in a variety of cameos in Marvel movies and even continued making convention appearances well into his twilight years. Needless to say, he was always a man of the people.
By now, I certainly hope that any lover of survival horror gaming has gotten their chance to play the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake. Being someone who was made a lifelong fan of the franchise after experiencing the 1998 original, I'll say that I've really been enjoying my return trip to Raccoon City. Granted, I'd hoped for more of a balance between new and old previously achieved by 2002's remake of the first Resident Evil, but Capcom's latest effort is still worthy of much applause.
By now, you've probably noticed how each successive Arrowverse crossover (arguably) outdoes its predecessor. Really, just when I thought it couldn't get any better than "Crisis on Earth-X," Greg Berlanti and company knocked my socks off with "Elseworlds." Needless to say, there's a very go chance that this fall's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" could raise the bar even higher.
In just a few days, the moment that fans of Supernatural have seemingly waited an eternity for will arrive. We are, of course, talking about Jeffrey Dean Morgan returning as John Winchester, something that’s been itching to be crossed off many wishlists since the conclusion to season 2.
After taking in Arrow's highly enjoyable 150th episode which saw its share of cameos made by returning actors last night, I'm more than ready to see what next week's episode has to offer. Actually, if we're to anticipate "Star City Slayer" based on its name value alone, it may be fair to say things could get pretty grim in short order.
It wasn't that long ago when I admitted how Justice League vs. The Fatal Five's initial announcement didn't exactly inspire much excitement within me, perhaps because 2019 will finally see Batman: Hush adapted to an animated film. But once we began learning more about the project and the "sneak peek" featurette found its way online, my interest level rose exponentially.
In a way, Gotham wrapping filming on its final season before the premiere episode had even aired presented a double-edged sword of sorts. On the one hand, it meant that spoilers would flood the internet like never before. But on the other, a variety of trailers hyped certain bullet points to come that gave us all one more reason to tune in each week with increased anticipation.
There are few horror franchises capable of appealing to my nostalgia more than Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Granted, I haven't read the books since the 1990's, but they were among my favorites as a child. Truth be told, they served as a jumping point for generating my interest in the horror genre, urban myths and the macabre in general.
