Despite other familiar villains such as Penguin, Riddler, Ra's al Ghul and Mad Hatter having been played by series regulars, it's arguably recurring guest star Cameron Monaghan who may go down as being Gotham's greatest scourge when it's all said and done. You probably noticed that I had to use the actor's name in that instance, as he's actually played two remarkably different takes on the Joker, those being Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska.
For the longest time, it seemed like Swamp Thing's return to the live action realm was a pipe dream, but lo and behold, it'll soon be a reality. Thanks to the recently launched DC Universe streaming service, the cult favorite hero will grace the small screen before you know it.
Now that Titans' action-packed season finale has come and gone, I think we've all had time to come down after witnessing what it'd be like for Batman to go completely berserk. It may have been a fantasy concocted by Trigon, sure, but that didn't take away from how I was on the edge of my seat nearly the entire time - and perhaps you were, too.
Although we still have a year and some change to go until Birds of Prey storms cinemas, I must say that I'm quite hyped for this team-up flick. Basically, I'm looking forward to it because not only does it feature a primarily female cast, but it also opens up a corner of the DC Universe yet to be explored by live action movies.
If you’ve been walking this Earth for as long as I have, then you remember the time that separated 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace from 2006’s Superman Returns. Long story short, Hollywood burned through many scripts when trying to resurrect the Man of Steel for the big screen, with none of them coming to fruition. Well, there was one that came dangerously close to doing so.
To me, at least, it seems like only yesterday when Young Justice was cancelled. I can vividly remember tuning in for the finale, only to witness a cliffhanger featuring one of my favorite supervillains, that being Darkseid. His last minute reveal alone caused me to lament Cartoon Network pulling the plug on the series after only two seasons due to a lack of toy sales - even though there was really no support on the merchandising end to begin with.
With each passing season, we as a viewing audience have become so focused on whether Green Arrow or the Flash will don new costumes that we don't spend too much time thinking about their rivals gaining fashion upgrades. After all, not many villains appear on such a recurring basis, therefore it's understandable we overlook this.
Even though Gotham's fifth and final season will most certainly boast its share of villains such as the Penguin, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and the debuting Bane, I'm of the crowd most excited to see what lies ahead for Jeremiah Valeska. Sure, I'm very much looking forward to whatever the diabolical folks just mentioned have planned, but it's hard not getting hyped for the Joker.
If you thought that Dark Nights: Metal had introduced us to every corrupted version of Batman in the multiverse, then you were most definitely wrong. Proving that he has an endless supply of aces up his sleeve, superstar scribe Scott Snyder acquainted us with a new take on the Masked Manhunter a few weeks back in The Batman Who Laughs #1 - and he has a little more in common with Frank Castle than the Bruce Wayne we've come to love.
When I was first really getting into comic books as a kid, one of the big things DC had going on at the time was Reign of the Supermen, a story that spanned multiple titles and featured four possible replacements for Superman following his demise at the hands of Doomsday. And now that it’s being adapted as an animated movie, you’d better believe that I’ll be checking it out for the sake of nostalgia alone.
