You've got to wonder if Zack Snyder ever takes vacations. The man largely responsible for bringing Warner Bros. Extended Universe to life - along with his producing partner Deborah Snyder - never seems to take a break. Straight after locking down the final cut on Batman v Superman, he jetted off to London to start prepping for Justice League Part 1, and afterwards he'll probably dive into Part 2. So what's next?
We've had a Capote biopic, we've had an Allen Ginsberg biopic. Heck, there's even been a Charles Bukowski biopic. And while Thomas Wolfe might not carry the same recognition as other literary masterminds, that doesn't mean his own tale of triumph isn't worthy of a movie. The first trailer for Wolfe's biopic Genius has now arrived, and it appears to be the first major movie of the year that's aimed squarely at the awards season crowd.
Heathers is getting a reboot. Thankfully, no-one involved in this new venture thinks remaking the movie is a good idea. Michael Lehmann's black comedy remains one the best eighties teen flicks ever made. I's cutting, clever and has perhaps the highest density of quotable one-liners per minute. So, what's happening with this reboot then?
Were you hoping that the R-rated Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would be packed with bloody brawls bordering on torture porn? Well, if you were, you probably won't like what Zack Snyder had to say to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dreamworks is accumulating a terrific cast for its upcoming ensemble comedy Office Christmas Party. As the title implies, the film revolves around one of the most joyous times of the year. No, not December 25 - the obligatory office party beforehand. Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman signed on to topline the movie back when it was first announced, so we can assume that they'll be playing a couple of co-workers who, I don't know, find love at Christmas?
It's no secret that Charlie Cox would quite like to play Daredevil on the big screen. Making the transition from Marvel's small-screen universe to its cinematic counterpart isn't a straightforward matter, though. There's all sorts of hurdles that make it difficult for The Defenders - Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist - to simply pop up in something like Avengers: Infinity War. Still, that isn't stopping him from putting himself up for the part.
Fans of AMC's The Walking Dead are regularly treated to sly nods and in-jokes from the show's creators. It's cool. It's their way of saying "Hey, we're just a bunch of horror fiends too!" In addition to that awesome Creepshow easter egg in the season five premiere, we've had a bunch in recent episodes. Last week when the gang were choosing a severed zombie head to pass off as Hilltop leader Geoffrey, one of their options was a dummy head of Johnny Depp.
At this point, it's surprising that there's any complimentary adjectives left for David Ayer to describe Jared Leto. His performance as The Joker in Suicide Squad has, for us at least, only been glimpsed in trailers and artwork so it's obviously impossible to throw in our two cents. But for Ayer? He thinks Leto's work is phenomenal, and he's happy to shower his villainous lead with praise at every opportunity. His latest interview with Total Film continues that trend, as the director describes what it was like on set with the green-haired thesp:
What a day to be an X-Men fan! We've already been treated to a brand new international trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse along with a series of high-res screenshots from that explosive preview. So, question is, can you handle more?
Following their double-whammy of Cap action directing both The Winter Soldier and Civil War, the Russo Brothers are taking over from Joss Whedon in Marvel's Big Tentpole. That's right. You've probably already heard that the duo will be tackling the two-part spectacle, Avengers: Infinity War and if that's of interest, you may know that the movie is going to have a mammoth amount of characters. Seriously, it's making Civil War's chocked roster look like a poorly-attended birthday party.
