Yesterday the web was struck with a blow: Matthew McConaughey would not be back for Magic Mike XXL. His Southern drawl. The baby-oil pecs. Gone. Does this mean the role of Dallas, the entrepreneur-mentor for the crew of money-hungry male strippers is gone? Possibly. Or could it mean the part will simply be rewritten. We're opting for the latter. We're also hinting at a gender change, as Variety reports that Andie MacDowell has signed onto the film.
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. and director Guy Ritchie are making headway on their Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur flick, as today it was announced that they've chosen their Guinevere to stand valiant beside King Arthur - French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey. Early talks had Elizabeth Olsen's name thrown into the mix, so does this mean that Berges-Frisbey has nabbed the lead? Or will Olsen be shifted into another role?
Despite wrapping production last summer, the gritty musical drama, Low Down, has traversed a long, hard road to theatres. After its debut last January at Sundance, director Jeff Priess' first feature suffered a slew of bad-to-mixed reviews. Instead of shrugging it off and chalking it up to first time jitters, Priess took the movie back to the edit suite. Presenting a new full-length trailer, the recut version might do the trick and turn things around.
Production is in full swing on Insidious Chapter 3, and the first teaser poster for the third instalment in the Wan-Whannell franchise has landed. Appearing earlier today on the official Insidious Twitter account, it's a trifle different to your normal teaser imagery. Whereas typically a preview poster might include the film's title, a date, and the word "Soon" - ooooh, tantalising! - the team over at Focus have taken time to begin the mythology. With a really, really, creepy verse. Check it out below.
The V/H/S franchise draws in fresh horror talent for an annual event that's becoming one of the hottest showcases the genre has to offer. By that we mean genre movie making talent. 2014 marks its third year in production, with the third installment in the anthology series, V/H/S Viral, set to hammer into homes this Halloween.
J.C. Chandor's latest effort, A Most Violent Year, has officially entered the awards race. The director's follow-up to last year's sorely-underrated Robert Redford drama, All Is Lost, has at last been granted a release date by A24 films. Set to land in select theatres on December 31st with a nationwide roll-out in January 2015, the flick will land in the midst of awards season. With the first teaser trailer now available to devour, it's not hard to see why the Winter slate was chosen.
Eduardo Sanchez has been slowly making his comeback to found footage terror. One half of the crew behind The Blair Witch Project, he's dallied with claustrophobic horror in Lovely Molly and Altered. He's reestablished himself with his segment in V/H/S 2. He's even taken to the small screen with his most recent work on BBC America's chilling supernatural series, Intruders. With all that under his belt, it's about time he went back to the woods. Or is it? You decide after watching the first clip from Exists.
In light of Channing Tatum's statement that the entire Magic Mike cast would return for a second outing, it turns out he failed to mention one omission. The ringleader of the gang, Matthew McConaughey, won't be back for Magic Mike XXL. In an interview with Indiewire, director Greg Jacobs confirmed reports from June this year that the muscle-bound bongo-player will be sitting out on this round of oiling-up.
In an age where studios can release a list of calendar dates that fuel the online blogosphere for months, should we really be surprised by today's news? After Marvel released the details of their cinematic schedule up until 2019, fans immediately began to ponder what those unannounced titles might be. The matter of inking in preliminary dates for movies five years in advance was itself news. Crackers, right? Things have stepped up to an even nuttier level of projected financial earnings with a press release from the Turner network, TNT. The TV network have already bagged the rights to Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America 3
Eli Roth's ever-expanding cinematic circles mean that he's got his fingers in a lot of pies. Establishing himself as a main player in the horror field with his breakout grossout hit, Cabin Fever, he's gone on to churn up stomachs with each subsequent movie. After turning his hand to the production side of things, he stepped away from the megaphone for last year's Aftershock, which he co-wrote with buddy Guillermo Amoedo. As that arrangement worked out, the pair have reunited for The Stranger.
