Known for her Tony-winning turn on Broadway as Matilda, Oona Laurence, has inked her name on the line to star opposite the newly-acquired male lead, Pint-sized actor Oakes Fegley, in Disney's latest rendition of Pete's Dragon.
You're not hallucinating. HBO's hugely popular adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Fire And Ice book series, Game Of Thrones, might have a surprise in store for its next season. The show has somewhat of a reputation for killing off beloved characters - right when you've finally decided they're not as deserving of death as you originally thought. So far, the biggest shocker came toward the end of season three in the infamous 'Red Wedding' sequence. We didn't just lose Catlyn Stark (who to be honest, was the only person in that room who deserved to stay on the show) but also Rob and his wife, Talisa.
Back in 2012, Pitch Perfect swept in as the little movie that could. It surprised critics and audiences with its sharp wit, wry characterizations and show-stopping musical numbers. All in all, it did what few musical rom-coms do. It hit every nail on the head and brought in sufficient enough returns at the box office to warrant a sequel. However, with production having wrapped on Pitch Perfect 2, there's still scant details about the flick.
Brevity is the key word when describing this teeny, tiny teaser for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Fox Searchlight have geared up for next month's release by dropping this cheeky clip showcasing Emma Stone scolding her dad for his apparent lack of social media awareness.
Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl hasn't been out of the spotlight since the novel was released. A twisting, turning, narrative Mobius-strip of lies, deceit and incredibly unreliable narrators, it's a breathtaking work of fiction. There was clearly no better choice to bring it to the big screen than David Fincher. A director who'll take the sunny and shove it deep into the darkest recesses of hell - even when you don't suspect it - his take on the novel is much, much anticipated.
Nearly a hundred years after his death, the man who brought so much joy to generations of readers and cinemagoers alike, L. Frank Baum, is the subject of another movie. The celebrated author of The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, and indeed the entire Oz series, will be the centre of a biopic entitled Road To Oz.
Gary Whitta is the envy of every aspiring sci-fi fan-fic scribbler. He's already got one massive item ticked from his bucket list: he's writing a stand-alone Star Wars film. If that weren't enough to get your fists raised to the sky while shouting "Why not me?! My Han-Chewy fan-fic received SO many comments!" - he's just bagged another sweet gig. Whitta has signed on to write the adaptation of Mark Millar's Starlight for Fox.
The Oscar-winning actress who burst into the public sphere with a series of iconoclastic performances back in the 90s has accepted her next helming project. Angelina Jolie has announced her upcoming directorial project will be Africa, a biopic of famed paleo-archaeologist Richard Leakey. The movie will centre around his struggle in the late 80s with a slew of elephant poachers, whose activities seriously threatened the future survival of the African elephant.
You heard. The two meisters of hedonistic, blowy-uppy, grandstand spectacle are bringing cocaine into your home via that insidious delivery method - television. Messrs Bay and Bruckheimer have finally been given the greenlight by TNT for a pilot that's set to explore the drug days of 70s Florida.
As a very amusing press release revealed today, Seth Rogen, Ben Schwartz and Adam McKay have joined forces for an as-yet untitled comedy feature. Pitched by actor-writer-funnyman Schwartz, who is set to co-star, the idea was picked up by Gary Sanchez Productions, Point Grey Pictures and Good Universe. Rogen is inked in to star, and Anchorman's Adam McKay will be taking up megaphone duties from the director's chair.
