If you believe that snacks on the whole don't encompass more of the creative human experience, then fear not, because Blue Dream Studios and Storyoscopic Films are producing an animated version of Animal Crackers! Directing the animated children's flick are Scott Christian Sava and Tony Bancroft, based on a script co-written by Sava and Dean Lorey.
Briefly: In breaking news, we've learned that Pixar are moving forward on Toy Story 4, with franchise stalwart John Lasseter on board to direct. The film will be released sometime in 2017. Walt Disney Co. chief Bob Iger announced the news during a meeting with analysts concerning the company's fourth quarter results. We'll keep you posted as soon as more news arrives.
At first glance, Variety's exclusive scoop announcing Alicia Silverstone's next film seemed to me to be signalling the actress's return to the big screen. A quick scour over her IMDB page and it turns out I was mistaken; she's not been away, but has instead been channeling her inner comedian into dodgy TV movies and straight-to-vid fodder. Could today's news out of the American Film Market turn all of that around? With a title like Who Gets The Dog? it's not looking good.
The early leak of the Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer was met by its studio with an air of geekery that we've come to expect from the comic book giants. Almost as soon as the bootleg version of the first preview made its way online, the marketing heads were cooking up a comeback. Making a gag about Hydra being responsible ("Dammit, Hydra"), followed by an official version, made them out to be Kool and The Gang. But they're not. In fact, the studio are now seeking legal action against the person responsible for the unauthorized posting of their carefully-crafted trailer.
Dito Montiel is responsible for bringing out of Shia La Beouf one of his most empathetic performances with his directorial debut, A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. Filmed in 2006 before the more-method-than-Brando actor embarked on a frankly loony series of highly-publicized stunts, he put in a solid turn. Now that the duo are collaborating once more for Man Down, it does bring into question La Beouf's infamous bag-wearing incident, during which he made sure it was known he was out of the 'biz.
Mark Wahlberg is teaming up once more with his Lone Survivor director Peter Berg for a big screen remake of a classic 70s TV show. A modern update on The Six Million Dollar Man, the series which starred Lee Majors as former astronaut Steve Austin, this time around the stakes are raised. And by stakes, we mean it's now landed a flashier, Tony Stark-esque new title - The Six Billion Dollar Man. The original depicted the life of Austin after he suffers a near-fatal plane crash, and subsequently is fitted with a full order of bionic limbs and told to go and do secret agent-y stuff for the government.
After months of speculation, the full cast line-up for Quentin Tarantino's next pic, The Hateful Eight, has officially been announced. Following Deadline's breaking news this morning, which suggested Channing Tatum was circling a part in the western, The Weinstein Company delivered a press release to verify the rumours.
Disney's holiday musical extravaganza, Into The Woods, is scaring away its December 25th competitors by upping the marketing game. Thus far, we've been treated to teasers, stills, a behind-the-scenes preview, and of course a series of posters. But none of the aforementioned images have the capacity to move as much as this latest batch. Hyperbole be damned - I mean, it these posters actually move!
Matthew McConaughey is in early talks to star in civil war drama, Free State Of Jones, with Gary Ross also in the crosshairs to direct. The feature is only in the preliminary stages of development, as co-financiers STX Entertainment and IM Global are currently brokering a deal at the American Film Market to discuss the particulars. Regardless, we understand that the aim is to begin shooting in the first quarter of next year.
Hot off the back of his standout supporting role in David Fincher's Gone Girl, Patrick Fugit has bagged the lead in Cinemax's upcoming exorcism drama, Outcast. The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman is on board to executive produce the show, which is based on the original comic he co-created with artist Paul Azaceta. Horror director Adam Wingard (You're Next) is being eyed to direct the pilot.
