The year's biggest rumour concerning Matt Damon's future slate was undoubtedly the suggestion that he'd be returning to his career-defining franchise for Bourne 5. While that prospect had fans holding their breath for confirmation, the actor began eyeing up a role in Legendary Pictures' The Great Wall. Per Deadline, we've now learned that Damon will no longer be scaling the infamous wall in Zhang Zimou's China-based epic, as he's in the crosshairs for Alexander Payne's next pic, Downsizing.
Universal has announced a release date for the second film in their upcoming cinematic "Monsterverse." The as-yet unknown title will arrive in cinemas on Friday April 17th, 2017; a date that's thus far only snagged by the monster pic.

In a bare-bones report out of Variety, Laura Dern and Judd Apatow are to combine their comedic forces and deliver to the world a female football movie. After Dern came up with the idea about a bunch of obsessive female football supporters, she shared it with Apatow, who's now in cahoots with the actress on the pic. The untitled project is currently in development over at Universal, with Pam Brady on board to pen the script.
Before he transforms into the Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman is gonna be seeking vengeance in upcoming thriller, Message From The King. A co-production by Ink Factory and Entertainment One, the story will follow a South African man played by Boseman, who hightails it to the US to track down a dangerous man.

The feature debut from director Justin Kelly, Michael, has unveiled its first image today. A relatively unknown filmmaker, Kelly's tutelage under Gus Van Sant has impressed his mentor considerably - as Van Sant boarded the pic as a producer. With only three short films to his name at this point, it looks like Kelly is aiming to grab the industry's attention with his full-length debut.

Clarke's legendary sci-fi series, 3001: The Final Odyssey, will be brought to life as a SyFy miniseries with Pirates Of The Caribbean scribe Stuart Beattle on scripting duties.
