Drake Doremus got our attention with his bittersweet romance Like Crazy back in 2011, and his follow-up Breathe In didn't give us any reason to take our eyes off the talented writer-director. Now, he's gearing up to shoot what just may be his most exciting project yet - a sci-fi romance titled Equals, set in a dystopian future where emotions have been eradicated and the new breed of unfeeling human beings are all called Equals.
When everyone else was clamoring loudly about exactly how sentient robot Ultron (James Spader) would be introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year, I was intrigued about that, but what was even more interesting to me was news that Vison would be included in the blockbuster, played by Paul Bettany. Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly's cover article on the movie, we have some insight into the character, who's a bit of a comic-book fan favorite.
Hot on the heels of word that Peter Shinkoda would be playing an original character named Hachiro in Netflix and Marvel's upcoming TV series Daredevil, we've learned that another talented actor has joined the 13-episode series' already impressive cast. Deborah Ann Woll, known to HBO subscribers for her role as vampire Jessica on the long-running True Blood, has signed on to portray Karen Page, a love interest for Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer by day who fights crime as the titular vigilante by night.
In the action genre, there are few stars whose mere presence packs as powerful a punch as Bruce Willis. And while of course none of us here at We Got This Covered could ever claim to have grown tired of seeing the icon kick ass, this summer's The Prince is definitely more interesting than most action fare the actor has been involved with lately - because it casts him not as the put-upon hero, but as a cold-hearted, dastardly assassin. Today, We Got This Covered is thrilled to exclusively five new images from the actioner, highlighting Willis along with stars Jason Patric and John Cusack.
Though modern audiences probably know Universal most for its Despicable Me, Fast & Furious and Jurassic Park franchises, the studio actually holds the rights to many much older franchises centered on movie monsters now considered to be old relics. I'm talking Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, the Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Bride Of Frankenstein The Mummy and more. Though Universal did attempt to breathe new life into one of those icons with The Wolf Man back in 2010, the film came off as a haphazardly constructed creature feature with great make-up and a thin story, and it didn't open any doors for the studio.
After making its premiere during the TCA Summer Press Tour, the first trailer for Syfy's upcoming reimagining of the sci-fi classic 12 Monkeys has made its way online, painting a suprisingly gritty and dramatic picture. Many of us, myself included, didn't really know what to expect from this show, which Syfy greenlit for a 13-episode first season set to premiere in January, but the feel of this preview is certainly exciting, though it does seem almost too similar to Terry Gilliam's original film.
Entertainment Weekly's cover shoots have given us some great first looks over the years, and the pop culture magazine's upcoming Comic-Con preview double issue is no exception, providing Marvel fans with a tantalizing first look at the titular baddie in hotly anticipated superhero sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. Check out the cover below, which finds sentient robot Ultron (James Spader) looming behind Avengers teammates Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans).
Horror fans of all ilks can safely look forward to October, when Hollywood does its damnedest to scare the crap out of everyone with a variety of frightful offerings. And though the Paranormal Activity franchise has vacated its usual Halloween slot, this year looks to be no different, thanks to the presence of The Conjuring spinoff Annabelle, freaky threequel V/H/S Viral and haunting flick Ouija. Now, thanks to Pretty Little Liars (never thought I'd write those words), we can take a look at the terrifying first trailer for that last movie.
It's definitely not too early to start getting excited about the upcoming Netflix series Daredevil, Marvel's first collaboration with the streaming giant. We previously learned that Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox was starring as Matt Murdock, secretly the titular vigilante, and that Vincent D'Onofrio was on board as Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin. As the weeks went by, more casting announcements arrived, including the involvement of Rosario Dawson as a determined young woman who crosses paths with Murdock and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Murdock's best friend. Now, we've learned that Peter Shinkoda has also joined Daredevil in a heavily recurring role.
Well, here's a fun and unexpected bit of casting buzz that actually seems to make a lot of sense to us. The TV detective series Columbo ran for quite a large amount of time, starting out in the '60s and continuing sporadically up until 2003, with the late Peter Falk in the lead role of the disheveled, affable and wordy detective, who discreetly ran circles around the crooks he was chasing while making them underestimate him with his ostensible absentmindedness. Now, we're hearing that a Columbo movie may be coming down the pipeline, with an intriguing actor primed to take the lead role - Mark Ruffalo.
