Check Out The Freaky First Trailer For Ouija

Horror fans of all ilks can safely look forward to October, when Hollywood does its damnedest to scare the crap out of everyone with a variety of frightful offerings. And though the Paranormal Activity franchise has vacated its usual Halloween slot, this year looks to be no different, thanks to the presence of The Conjuring spinoff Annabelle, freaky threequel V/H/S Viral and haunting flick Ouija. Now, thanks to Pretty Little Liars (never thought I'd write those words), we can take a look at the terrifying first trailer for that last movie.

Now, thanks to Pretty Little Liars (never thought I’d write those words), we can take a look at the terrifying first trailer for that last movie.

The preview, packed with some surprisingly scary moments, premiered on the Pretty Little Liars Facebook page. Take a look below:

As the title would suggest, Ouija centers on a group of teens who conjure up an evil spirit while using an ancient board game to communicate with their deceased friend (who, as it turns out, was one of the spirit’s victims). Though the idea of a horror board game adaptation made me roll my eyes at first, the above trailer is actually pretty good, showcasing an abundance of spine-chilling visuals and convincing performances. Ouija also hails from Blumhouse Productions, which has an extremely good track record with horror, so that gives me even more faith in this flick’s ability to deliver.

Douglas Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ana Coto, Darren Kagasoff, Bianca A. Santos, Erin Moriarty, Matthew Settle and Shelley Hennig star in the movie, which looks like it’s going to rack up quite a body count. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Cooke, extremely good on A&E’s Bates Motel and in this spring’s otherwise mediocre The Quiet Ones, cement her status as a bona fide scream queen.

Ouija opens October 24th.
