Though E3 is certainly most popular for all of its gaming news updates, occasionally some exciting film news comes out of the convention as well. And yesterday, convention goers got a thrilling first look at the David Ayer-directed WWII tank film Fury, starring Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf, by way of a behind-the-scenes featurette.
As our reviewer Matt Donato can attest, Borgman is a supremely eerie and engrossing psychological horror flick, heightened by director Alex Van Warmerdam's unflinching direction and some fine performances. And though the film might not be playing near you quite yet, that doesn't mean you can't get an extended look at Borgman right now.
Over in England, one of the most beloved characters in children's literature is Paddington Bear, an anthropomorphised Peruvian bear who gets into all sorts of mishaps in London when he travels there from his home country. Studiocanal is taking a stab at bringing the creature to the big screen with this December's Paddington, which finds Colin Firth voicing the titular character.
Divergent sequel Insurgent is continuing to expand its cast, and in the past few days alone, we've seen talented performers like Naomi Watts, Daniel Dae Kim and Rosa Salazar come aboard. Now, Deadline is reporting that the important part of Uriah has gone to Keiynan Lonsdale, who starred on the Australian TV show Dance Academy.
It may pain The Fault In Our Stars lovers to see actress Shailene Woodley getting intimate with someone other than her co-star in that movie, Ansel Elgort, but a new montage clip from her upcoming mystery White Bird in a Blizzard certainly doesn't pull any punches when it coms to just that. In the wordless teaser for the '80s-set film, Woodley's protagonist repeatedly cozies up to her on-screen boyfriend, played by Shiloh Fernandez. I'm not sure what White Bird in a Blizzard is about based on that clip, which you can check out below, but the marketing department is clearly banking on Woodley's fanbase wanting to see the actress in more sexually charged, adult material.
Though Netflix's first Marvel television series, Daredevil, recently lost showrunner Drew Goddard to Sony's Sinister Six project, it's still moving forward with Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight filling in for Goddard and Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox on board to play the titular vigilante. Now, we've learned that another key character in the series has been cast, with news that Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket) has signed on to play Wilson Fisk - aka The Kingpin, Daredevil's archnemesis.
When Tom Clancy died last year at the age of 66, even as us fans mourned his loss, one thing that we could all agree on was that he succeeded in creating a character who would never die, in the form of spy Jack Ryan. So far, in addition to the nine Ryan novels Clancy penned, we've seen Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and now Chris Pine in films featuring the character.
There are a lot of blockbuster hopefuls coming out this summer, but perhaps none of them are more risky than Clint Eastwood's song-and-dance musical Jersey Boys, a star-studded adaptation of the Broadway play of the same name. As Rob Marshall, whose ambitious musical Nine flopped at the box office, and Adam Shankman, whose Rock of Ages only faired slightly better and never recouped its budget, can attest, movie musicals are very tough to do.
With all the hubbub about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, it's easy to forget that there are some other huge blockbusters on the calendar for this summer. Before any of those aforementioned likely box office smashes arrives in theaters, we're getting Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in the highly successful franchise as well as a quasi-reboot.
All of us here at We Got This Covered were holding our breath last weekend when we learned that 30 Rock alum Tracy Morgan had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition after his chauffeured limo was involved in a multiple-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike. Thankfully, it appears that, despite his injuries, which include a broken leg, broken femur, broken nose and several broken bones, Morgan is going to recover. And today, FX and FXX reaffirmed their commitment to working with the comedian on an untitled comedy project.
