Recently, the first test screenings for the film were held, and thanks to The Playlist, we have a few reactions to what has already been called a very ambitious project from The Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer, who co-wrote and co-directed the film.
Here's a movie that somehow managed to slip by my radar completely. Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral) has directed a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel Great Expectations that stars Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Jeremy Hawkins, and Sally Hawkins.
With the great reaction from the secret screening of Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film, The Master, audiences are more excited than ever for his return to the big screen.
Thanks to The Film Stage, we have words that yet another Amityville film is in the works, but this time it will be a prequel. As some of you may know, like several movies out there, this one claims to be "based on a true story," which already means that it's most likely not true (like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). However, there have already been many accounts claiming that this "true story" is indeed false.
Today, thanks to First Showing, we have a look at the first official poster for the film. It's not exactly mind-blowing. In fact, it's merely a step away from being a simple "floating heads" design." However, we do get a good look at some of the cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, and Josh Hutcherson.
Deadline is reporting that Donald Faison is in talks to star in Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall as Dr. Gravity, "the baseball bat wielding masked character who fights alongside Kick-Ass."
Just yesterday, we got the great news that writer/director Joss Whedon would be returning to write and direct the sequel to his smash hit film The Avengers. With this announcement, we also learned that he would be helping to develop a television show set in the Avengers universe.
Today, thanks to Yahoo! Movies, we have a look at the new poster for the film, which features a kaleidoscopic image of the three leads (Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams).
Recently, we received word that Peter Jackson would be turning his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit into three films instead of the originally planned two. Incredibly, this decision came before anyone even had a chance to view the first film, which is coming out in less than five months. However, with this announcement, we now know that we can expect a lot more news and marketing for the films in the coming months (and years).
The Film Stage is reporting that a secret screening of The Master was held last night in Santa Monica's Aero Theater, attached to a screening of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The audience was merely told "that there would be a mystery 70mm movie projected as a second feature." Half an hour after The Shining ended, the audience came back and was treated to Anderson's new film, which was said to be "around 130 to 150 minutes."
