It wasn't even a week ago that Justin Bieber took to Twitter to subtly hint at another Skrillex collaboration, and now we know the song's title and official release date as well. The controversial pop superstar took to social media once again last night to reveal that "Sorry" will come out five days from then, or October 23rd.
Tropical/future house rising star SNBRN has been holding out on us as far as originals are concerned. We've had to resign ourselves to remix after remix for the better part of the year - and while some of them certainly suited our fancy, nothing provides as effective a snapshot of an artist's musings as the tracks they put together from start to finish.
It looks like progressive house superstars Axwell /\ Ingrosso want to wash away the sour taste left in people's mouths due to their split with long-time manager Amy Thompson by revealing an initiative that everybody can get behind. The duo have just released a preview of their upcoming track, "This Time," announcing that all proceeds from the song will go towards UN refugee agency UNHCR.
The Parisian DJ/producer born William Grigahcine proved himself more than a one-trick pony following the overwhelming mainstream success of 2013's "You Know You Like It" (which I still bump when I can be bothered to get off my hipster horse, might I admit) when he and Major Lazer's "Lean On" became an unofficial anthem of the 2015 festival season. Now he's delivered another solid piece of pop-tinged bass music in the form of "Middle."
Electronic music trends shift at such a breakneck speed that often times it can feel like your favorite moments are in the rearview mirror. Take Skrillex, for instance. From the EDM breakthrough of 2010 through most of 2013 he put out some of the more seminal dubstep of the time, but as the tides of the industry turned he all but abandoned his electro-tinged bass music style for a more updated sound.
At long last, DJ Mag has unveiled their top 100 DJs list of 2015. Or at least, they've begun to. The announcement is currently underway at the Amsterdam Dance Event, and we'll continue to keep this post updated as more and more DJs are announced, right up until the outlet crowns the #1 DJ in the world. Many are expecting it to be Martin Garrix, and we'd probably have to agree. But, stay tuned over the next hour or so as the list is slowly rolled out.
With the countdown for the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs only a couple hours out, the EDM world is buzzing with speculation over how their favorite artists will place on the often controversial awards list. However, if a screen shot of a snap from an unknown source is any indicator, the top 25 entries may already have been revealed.
A brand new music festival is slated to hit the market in 2016, and this one will celebrate Jamaica's often overlooked role in electronic music. Paradise Lost will be organized by Caribbean Trans Media ltd. and will take place from March 10th-12th of next year.
There weren't a great many songs as overplayed this festival season as Diplo side project Major Lazer's collaboration with DJ Snake, "Lean On." The track had the perfect amount residual chill trap influence to capitalize on the genre's popularity before it went the way of dubstep, but MØ's vocals gave it just enough universal appeal to remain in the music world's collective queue afterwards.
For as long as anybody involved can remember, dance music has had a tenuous and cyclical relationship with lawmakers. It goes something like this: Electronic music gets popular, more people go to shows, tragedy strikes, lawmakers crack down and drive it back underground for a while. However, the Netherlands' capital, Amsterdam, has taken the opposite approach with famously lax drug laws - and at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in particular, they've all but declared MDMA a mild headache medicine.
