The IP Shack #5: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
That’s Splinter Cell’s third game for those of you who haven’t delved into the world of videogame espionage, and I still think it was one of the greatest stealth games to date. Sam Fisher has since found himself with some dreary security issues and a very light trigger finger. Many would argue that there hasn’t been a truly genuine entry into the stealth genre since Chaos Theory but I don’t want to moan right now. Obviously some of the bestselling game franchises are soaked in a very weak stealth sauce (Assassin’s Creed, Batman etc), and many games have their crudely constructed and poorly executed ‘sneaky mission’ but on the whole, this is fact.

Portal 2 Screenshots Are Atmospheric
Atmospheric, chilling, hospital/laboratory decor, eerie, hauntingly pretty, intriguing, and dramatic come to mind. Valve have been saying for a week or so now that Portal 2 is pretty much finished already, and that the team are really just polishing it all and giving it a thorough, careful, and rigorous playtest before it releases on April 18th/22nd .

Another Creative Milestone For Sony’s PS3
While this might be little more than a novelty for many non sack-boy-loving folk, Sony has announced that the PS3 exclusive kart racer ModNation Racers has surpassed two million user- generated levels, and compiled a celebratory video to mark the event. Obviously compared to Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet franchise that probably doesn’t seem so huge, but remember that LittleBigPlanet 2’s most recent sum of 3.6 million levels includes stuff made for the first game.

Craziness From Platinum’s Anarchy Reigns
Considering that Sega and Platinum have spawned two OTT third person finger twitchers in the space of about a year, Bayonetta and Vanquish, and that they were both fantastic, should give us a clue as to what their next big multiplayer flavoured title is going to be like. My guesses are headache inducing, lightening fast, and hopelessly awesome.

Killzone 3 Tops UK PS3 Charts
The latest chart stats came in today with Sony’s fiery hot shooter managing to topple Activision’s FPS titan for a wonderful moment. Guerrilla has produced an incredibly polished game in Killzone 3, with fans literally swooping down upon the long awaited instalment. Personally I think the marketing milestone that led to this table topping sales figure, was the open beta that hit PSN a week or so back.

The IP Shack #4: Ratchet Gladiator/Deadlocked
Many folks overlooked this experimental Ratchet and Clank title because it was treading in unfamiliar territory and leading more heavily towards a 3rd person shooting game. Whilst it was a bit of a shake up on the formula back in 2005, I feel that Insomniac’s experiment paid off and illustrated the strengths of the franchise as a whole.

Bulletstorm Co-Op Cancelled
Just to clarify, this is not about the multiplayer modes. Cliff Bleszinski from Epic told a UK newspaper that People Can Fly actually trialled a co-operative campaign for Bulletstorm, but that it didn’t compliment the experience and they eventually ditched it completely.
