Portal 2 Co-Op Screenshots
Yesterday Valve put up a brand new gallery of screenshots from the upcoming sci-fi puzzler Portal 2, showcasing the highly anticipated co-op mode where you and a buddy can tackle all new Portal-ed puzzles together...expect lots of arguing and laughing. Valve was recently proud to announce that PS3 and PC players will be able to play with each other (stop laughing you) across the platforms and team up. They’ve also teased about support for the PC peripheral ‘Razor Hydra’, hinting at some special motion control levels.

Are Demos Misleading?
With a whole batch of big titles dishing out promotional (playable) demos for their gamers who are struggling to contain their excitement for something, it got me pondering on the interesting question of their relevance. I will confess now that I rarely hesitate in starting the download myself, but I’m aware that some people find the content the developers/publishers let you try out, misleading if not approached in just the right manner.

Pachter Thinks The Wii 2 Should Already Be Here
Wedbush analyst and widely respected games market guru Michael Pachter was speaking to IndustryGamers when he expressed disappointment in Nintendo’s lack of any console updates. Mr Pachter has frequently said that early 2011 was the perfect time window for some kind of Wii 2 to launch, and the right time for Nintendo to make the leap up to the HD table and seriously start competing with the PS3 and 360 markets.

Trio Of Studios Working On Modern Warfare 3
According to someone closely involved with Activision and the Call Of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 3 is definitely in the works. Whether or not MW3 is one and the same project as the rumoured sci-fi CoD (after trademarks were filed for things like ‘Space Warfare’) is unclear, but word that MW3 is happening is going to bring a lot of thunder.

Animus Project 2.0 Thoughts
This latest batch of free DLC for Ubisoft’s best selling game, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, promised a very special addition to the multiplayer experience: tactics and team play. Unfortunately I find myself sadly disappointed at Ubi’s latest effort despite the absence of a price tag, maybe that is enough to explain the quality of it. Aside from the new map and the monthly leaderboards the main hook for this content was the announcement of a “Chest Capture Mode”, which sounded like some kind of uber-cool Creed version of the typical CTF.

Nintendo Expects “Rocket Start” To 3DS Sales
The president of Nintendo Satoru Iwata has predicted that the upcoming 3DS will sell like hotcakes on release on March 25th, March 27th, and February 26th, in the US, Europe, and Japan respectively. The device is the first handheld games platform that offers a 3D experience for all users, and will not require the use of special glasses to create the illusion of dimensionality.

More Free Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood DLC Out Now
Yep Ubisoft didn’t change their mind, Animus Update 2.0 is free to download on Xbox live and PSN from today, so get your console gobbling up those megabytes right now and stop watching that kung-fu monkey. The new package of DLC contains a few sneaky little updates for the multiplayer, namely a new game mode serving as the Assassin’s Creed take on CTF, and a sleek new map to test it out in.

DC Universe In The Charts
Sony’s long awaited World Of Warcraft-esque MMORPG, DC Universe Online has flown straight up to second place on the PS3’s UK charts this week. I for one barely realized the game had finally come out, with multiple delays (like a shameful amount of games now) and a very rushed beta making the grand unveiling like a firework on the moon. So to see DC Universe triumphantly standing above games like Black Ops and AC: Brotherhood was somewhat unexpected.

3D In Crysis 2: “James Cameron Loved What He Saw”
Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli was speaking confidently to Edge magazine in the latest issue; about the luscious visuals in the eye popping FPS Crysis 2. Crytek have been working on the Cry Engine 3 for quite some time and this latest version of the game engine, is being used in the long awaited sequel to the original (and virtually unplayable) Crysis game. And for the record: yes I’m aware this company is overly fond of a particular three letter word.

Best Suited Couples In Gaming
Its coming up to February and love (might) be stirring in the air, in little pockets of dreamy eyes and warm smiles. Some people might (worryingly) fall for inanimate objects, imaginary men and women, kitchen utensils, or even videogame characters. Yeah traditionally we’re supposed to catch the eye of another ummm...person, but oh well life’s a strange thing. Alternatively, to spare the gaming world any embarrassment we could take a look at which videogame heroines and heroes would be the perfect match for each other.
