AC: Brotherhood Multiplayer Gets…Raiden?

Those of you who are planning on picking up a copy of Assassins Creed: Brotherhood later on this November might find these new multiplayer character reveals pretty cool. The latest on the growing list (I thought the 7 or 8 in the original bunch were awesome enough if I’m honest) is Raiden from the Metal Gear series. The badass blonde cyborg ninja will be available after completing certain tasks in the new training mode feature according to sources at Joystiq.

The news many of us (me) have been waiting (dying) to hear has finally stirred into existence; Crytek are supposedly in talks with a handful of publishers about that elephant in the room ‘TimeSplitters’. It would appear that the developers are still thinking about that amazing franchise and the top notch team behind it, the team that is now actually a part of Crytek studios.

Is Gaming All About The Looks?

The age old question, it’s one of the most hotly debated topics in the entire gaming industry but yet everyone seem to have a slightly different opinion on the issue. Firstly we have to grasp that not every gamer invests time into a game for exactly the same reasons as someone else might. Video games like any other art form, is a totally subjective and personal medium. What Might Bulletstorm’s Multiplayer Offer?

Epic and EA have been excitedly lighting the ring of awesomeness around their Polish developing team, People Can Fly and their new game Bulletstorm. Set for release late February in 2011, Bulletstorm is tipped to be the most OTT first person shooter the industry has seen in a rather long time. It’s certainly hoping to be a genre changer and in relation to other titles, Bulletstorm is to CoD as what Burnout is to Grand Turismo. Go and YouTube some gameplay demos and you'll see why.

Playstation Phone First Pics

After a considerable amount of excited banter as to whether the rumoured ‘Playstation Phone’ actually existed we finally have pictures of an early prototype that Sony is working with. The design looks a little bare at the moment for obvious reasons, and Sony has dismissed any possibility of a 2010 release. Aside from the clearly visible D-pad and trademark Playstation buttons it also boasts some elements of touch screen functionality.

Quickscoping “A Cheap Way To Play”

So are Treyarch sort of not-so-subtly undermining elements of Infinity Ward’s best selling game, or simply parts of its online culture? As someone who has only starting conforming to CoD this year I find all this modification encouraging but still quite removed. But yet I think all the recent news and updates concerning online play are looking very promising indeed, and fans and critics will no doubt be itching to test it all out.

The TimeSplitters Wonderland

Free Radical had produced three TimeSplitters games before their company sunk into the dark pits of administration, shortly after the flop they were bought up and in effect saved by FPS giants Crytek in 2008. Free Radical then became Crytek UK, and had most of the key staff from before still in the team. Up until Free Radical’s financial disaster they had been working on the fourth instalment in the franchise and their first TimeSplitters on the next gen consoles. Since the name change though it seems that the studio has forgotten about their genre defining game, and TimeSplitters 4 has quickly become a myth in the gaming world.

Heavy Rain’s Follow Up Act

Those of you, who were curious enough about this bizarre game and bought it, will recognize that the developers created Heavy Rain with punching a huge hole in the preconceptions and trash stereotypes of videogames clearly in mind. Some of the standout and most praised features of the game were things like the shockingly powerful voice acting, the dark and chillingly believable plot, the innovative control scheme, the multiple endings, and an experience that was completely unheard of. But many of us are aware that Heavy Rain did so well, largely because it was a rebellious title surrounded by otherwise polished gaming clichés (not to discredit some fantastic games released during this period).

Sony Protecting Gran Turismo 5?

An obvious as slightly worrying question arises from this and that is; does this mean all the games that have been made and released on the previous kit even this year, are dangerously vulnerable to piracy? If Sony is this worried then should publishers and developers like Activision with Call of Duty: Black Ops, or Sega with Vanquish be similarly concerned about their games? It might just be a possibility and that alone is scary enough.
