WGTC Radio #54 – Discussing & Analyzing The Last of Us
While we apologize for the erratic scheduling as of late – we will be taking next week off so we can return on Monday, July 8th with new, weekly episodes in their normal timeslot – we think we have made up for it with a really special episode for gamers. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us launched two weeks ago on the PlayStation 3, and has quickly taken the videogame community by storm as one of the greatest and most accomplished titles of this waning generation, if not of all time.

White House Down Review
Optimism is not what makes White House Down so astoundingly stupid, and neither is it the total and complete implausibility of the second act, in which the eponymous mansion is abused to staggering but creative degrees, over-the-top car chases are staged on the lawn, and the leader of the free world hangs himself out from a limousine to fire a rocket launcher. Silly? Of course. That is the point of the entire affair. But contender for dumbest movie ever made? Not quite yet.

WGTC Radio #53 – Dissecting Microsoft’s Xbox One 180 Announcement
We certainly were not planning on a two-podcast week, but then again, nobody was expecting Microsoft to declare a complete 180 on nearly every previously announced internet or DRM-related policy for their upcoming next-generation console, the Xbox One. We have been hard on the Xbox One for these and many other reasons (understandably so, I should think), so does Microsoft’s surprise double-back make us more optimistic? Or does it merely make us more cynical about this entire sordid affair? After declaring our intentions to purchase a PlayStation 4, does the Xbox One look any more attractive now? Monsters University Review
Even during those stretches when the film is a bit too mired in convention, Monsters University boasts terrific characters, gorgeous and clever visuals, truly intelligent and surprising humor, and a wildly poignant emotional undercurrent, all of which serves to distinguish the film as a cut above the rest, exactly like a Pixar film should.

WGTC Radio #52 – Discussing Man Of Steel
As promised, this week’s episode is devoted to discussing the latest cinematic superhero sensation, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. And by ‘discuss,’ I mostly mean Sean rants about why he hates the film while I stay quiet, periodically attempting to interject before getting immediately shot down. But that’s just how it goes sometimes – Sean feels quite strongly about this one. I do too – Man of Steel is my favorite film of 2013 so far, something I do not say lightly – and if you want to know more about where I am coming from, please read my written review. It does not deal in spoilers, which our podcast does, but it says just about everything I feel needs saying on my side of this argument.
