Do we really need another movie reimagined for the small screen? Apparently so, because Lethal Weapon is the latest to come to TV with Fox forging ahead with a reboot of the iconic action film, which starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
Well, who didn't see this coming? Ahead of its debut in North America next week, pre-release tracking for Joe Wright's Pan points to the Peter Pan origin story struggling to earn as much as $30 million during its opening weekend, a dismal amount for a movie Warner Bros. has sunk a lot of money into in terms of the production budget and marketing costs.
It was recently revealed that John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch would no longer be helming the sequel together, with the former set to tackle the movie by himself. Well, we now know what Leitch will be doing next, as it has been revealed today that he's going to direct upcoming spy thriller The Coldest City, a movie which Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) is attached to star in.
The first clip has been released from co-writer/director Jonathan Levine’s upcoming Christmas comedy, The Night Before. The movie reunites the filmmaker with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Walk) and Seth Rogen (The Interview) after they teamed up for 50/50, with Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Age of Ultron) joining them.
The next few years is going to be very interesting for video game adaptations. Hitman: Agent 47 didn't go down too well earlier this year, so all eyes will be on Assassin's Creed in 2016 to see if it can break the curse and help make video game movies just as popular as comic book ones.
M. Night Shyamalan redeemed himself somewhat with The Visit last month, and now he's already hard at work on his next - currently untitled - supernatural thriller. While his latest movie was made up of relative unknowns, the filmmaker can still attract A-List talent when he chooses, as it has been revealed today that James McAvoy (X-Men: Days of Future Past) is in talks to star.
The cast of Justin Kurzel's (Macbeth) Assassin's Creed continues to get more and more impressive, with Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow) and Jeremy Irons (Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) acting as the latest additions to the video game adaptation.
Tilda Swinton is always amazing, and she's been making a lot of very interesting choices recently. After an unrecognisable turn in Judd Apatow's Trainwreck opposite Amy Schumer earlier this year, she'll next year appear in Doctor Strange playing The Ancient One, a character from the comic books who has classically been portrayed as an elderly Asian man.
It took Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard a long time to bring The Cabin the the Woods to the big screen, and when it was finally released, it was delayed by a number of years thanks to MGM's near bankruptcy (which is why it starred a pre-Thor Chris Hemsworth). However, the movie was still a decent sized hit with over $65 million worldwide, and now Lionsgate apparently wants a sequel.
